They still probably should thank PUBG for the free publicity though since PUBG was stupid enough to make a big deal over "similarities" which only brought more people into Fortnite as a result

This game was terrible. Played 3 rounds. Uninstalled.

This game will become more fun than PUBG in the future.
Games with this theme will always be more fun. So those who appreciate reality (but not so much) cited Fortnite as a game for children which is not true. After all if you want something close to the similation there is ARMA 3, SQUAD, DAYZ ...

    +1 for Fortunit!

Game is great, it felt like battle royale TF2, less serious than PUBG, but far more fun imo

couldn't agree more, looting felt way more fun trying to find hidden chests, smaller map= less running, great optimization and seems for the most part to be bug free. I had a blast playing and it's free.

Here's what my inner conspirator says:
Epic PR is on fire. First they had the PUBG "fiasco" to draw attention to their game launch. Then they bring out the big show demonstrating seamless cross platform console play through a "configuration file accident", which has since been corrected.

I think they threw down the gauntlet and just told the competitive shooter crowd that they are serious by demonstrating they've already built cross play into the game and are only held up by the selfish interests of the console platform owner. In this case that's just Sony.

    My inner gamer says:
This isn't about PUBG and BlueHole at all. This is about Epic jumping back into the competitive shooter game UT style and sort of blindsiding everyone in the process.
Agreed, I hope it works out for them. I would love if this could bring Epic back onto people's radar as more than just an Engine. It can only help Unreal Tournament by having it in the same launcher etc. Unreal was a game that always could have been a huge Esport but they just never quite got it to take off like Halo, CSGO, CoD, and BF.

I played a few matches in Fortnite yesterday, and so far I think it's great. Maybe the bullet physics could be a bit more fine tuned, but other than that it's solid.

PUBG on the other hand may be unhappy, but the truth imo is their game isn't fun now that they've introduced first person only mode. As well as the overall optimization being poor. In Fortnite I can loot things without having to worry if it actually looted.

One side note, the BR mode uses the same login server as the PvE server that people paid for. There are now queues for the paying customers to log into PvE that range from 10 to 15 minutes. Just one more example of existing customers being screwed over for the imaginary new customer...

We must pay a price to be able to play with our 3rd world friends.

Hey I'm sorry, I just wanted to mess with the battle royale and I have no interest in the zombie shooting tower defense stuff.

No interest in Battle Royale personally, but love the core game. So hopefully they don't shift work from the core game to this. If they hire more people to improve BR that's fine by me. If anything it's good marketing to get people interested in the actual game I suppose.

hehe I've been saying this game would explode in popularity when the NDA lifted as playing it for years, and here it is, it's just appealing by its nature.
