Well, I was bored yesterday with a day off, so after going to church I picked up a copy of Auto Assault from the future shop. I wasn't expecting much, just a game to play for a day or two and have a basis for commentary on it.

First I just want to say my system is 2.0 ghz AMD, 2 gigs of dual channel ram, Radeon X800 pro card and I have the best LCD 19" monitor NEC makes with DVI input.

This game is a breath of fresh air after having played other MMO's. It isn't rocket science ok, it's all about fun, and this game delivers fun in heaping shovel fulls.

The graphics are a 10! There is flying debris and weather and all kinds of effects on everything and the game is just shiny as a brand new silver dollar. You get tons of air and drive around like a psycho blowing everything up. It's just pure fun.

I am writing this just in case anyone has read some of the negative reviews and might be looking for something new. I think the people who diss the game must have lacklustre computers, because on pure looks and driving alone this game deserves at least a 7 out of 10. And it's not all driving and graphics, there is crafting which is very easy yet thought provoking, and did I mention the explosions?

It might not be the end all be all MMORPG, but that isn't what AA is going for. It's just so much fun and I played it for 9 hours yesterday, in one day! I haven't played ANY game for 9 hours in one day since Everquest. That should tell you something. This game is FUN FUN FUN!!!!!!

Nice one, I completely agree. AA is a quality title, and one I nearly neglected beacuse of the negativity on these boards. I've only been playing a few days and the game already feels like second nature to me.

Agreed.  I was still on the fence after playing in beta.  I read alot of negative posts but decided to pick it up anyway.  I have been FORCE FEEDING myself DDO and trying to like it desperately.

I am having a blast.  I LOVE that this is really truly casual friendly game.  I can log in and log out at any time.  You can't find many games like that anymore.  And at the same time it's got a crafting system that's not overly complex but has depth to it.

I am a MUTANT on WASTELANDS server.  My name is Apoc.   Look me up!

  • I totally agree, first before playing the game I had predjudice because I thought the name "auto assault" was cheesy and what ive heard of lineage being a corean grind fest, I didnt have trust in NCsoft, and had never heard of netdevil. But after getting in beta road rage weekend I just got addicted. To the point Ive put water boiling on the oven one day, and got into the game so much, I forgot the water and the cauldron bottom melted...

Never had that problem with other games, and for thoses that arent sure yet, you at least have to try it, I know I would never have without the open beta but now theres people out there to spread the word so come have fun on carnage with us

Yep! I play WoW and have no intention of quiting it anytime soon, but since I've played since retail (before actually) I'm getting a little bored. Got into AA after an open beta weekend in January and have played since.

I love AA as a balance/compliment to WoW because it is much simpler and just well, fun, like you say. If I don't feel like the more complex involved time needed for WoW I can fire up AA, tho honestly I've been playing AA about 90% of the time the last couple months. I commented to my husband (who also plays) as I mowed down another hapless group of wandering Scavs (one of the NPC target races) and watched the chunks fly, "This really shouldn't be this fun" but yes, it is.     Sometimes when I'm heading back to town I'll see a little ruined emcampment or clump of critters and I'll just find myself blasting through it, EXP numbers flying by, crunches, explosions, the loverly clinky sound of loot *automatically* going into inventory... Just FUN!!!

Signed up for 6 months which will be about the time Burning Crusade is released...

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!  I'm glad to see so many people having fun with it already, and appreciate the honesty in your reviews and suggestions.  We listen very closely to our community, and we're working on a bunch of improvements already for ongoing free updates (such as Auction systems, improved boss battles, more missions, and more instances and arenas, etc.).

On the other hand, i'm not too sure I should be saying "thanks" to a Canucks fan! ;)  (NetDevil is in Colorado, and yes I watched the end of the last game... stupid OT!  at least we got that critical point though... )
