More like partnering up to try to legally lock down Battle Royale mode so no more Fortnites will happen in the future.

FineBros all over again trying to trademark what is already in existence (they tried trademarking the word "React.")

I think it's less of trying to trademark an idea and more of what Torval said. It has to be that they don't want Tencent to own a stake in their actual company, and will be more willing to divy up the side company they create specifically for this game. I think it's a good idea on their end but honestly I don't think the game can really get any bigger than it already is. It blew the hell up.

Bluehole has to be careful with accusations, they can't attack Epic Games over fortnite, as they are also the ones who helped them with aspects of PUBG in the first place, maybe they shouldn't have used the game engine that Epic Games created and get help from Epic Games during development if they really wanted to create their own 'trademark' and as you are effectively saying, Battle Royale is not a new concept that Bluehole have any kind of claim over, so all they (Bluehole) have really managed to do is advertise Fortnite even more, although, given that Blue Hole is using Epic Games game engine, one might even accuse them (Bluehole) of creating a 'storm in a teacup' just to create such publicity for Epic Games, not that such a thing as that has never been done before either :p
