I was reading on the public forums for AA, and I heard some people complaining that there are very few people in the game. So, can anyone currently playing give us some insight on this? Does it look like the game is a failure or something? I'm considering getting it, but I don't want to waste my money if it's just going to be a bust...

I myself playing from day one and having really good time. It very friendly game to casual players. Solo is easy but convoys much more fun. Good solid MMORPG. Some stuff not up yet (like some of PvP statistic and stuff) but everything should be good soon. But game is just plain fun, just driving around/destroying stuff for exp. Grinding never been so fun. If u wanna try something new in MMORPG go AA or EvE. Only two games that i respect lately, to many "same egg, diffrent angle" type of clones.
I love that Devs posting on board regulary, like answering question and stuff and pretty solid community. Boards always full and active.
One of the possible downsides is the game is only availble on DVD format. (I could be wrong although this was expressed to me at a local game store). Reading the box states there's also a 10gb installation requirement. In todays technology that's not demanding although there's still some ppl who do not use DVD drives on their PC's.
I couldn't imagine installing a 10gb cdrom game. That would be close to 18 discs!!
I must ask, are the textures of extremely high resolution with superb graphics???
*I'm getting a DVD drive on my way home this evening.
I think part of the 'dead' feeling is the fact that there are mutliple instances of each zone. This also leads to confusion... My wife and I started up, got in a convoy together, and went to meet up after the tutorial zone... We spend 10 minutes bickering about where each other was because we couldn't see each other! We finally figured out that there were 3 or 4 instances of the zone that we were in, and that one of us had to change into the others instance (selectable by zone-name under the mini-map btw). I think they should cut down the multiple zone instances, at least until the player volumes ramp up.
but also, I play on the least populated server. Doh.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I think the problem with the server pop is that they are spreading things to thin as well. There are 4 servers, perhaps until the games population rises they should consider only 2 or maybe 3 servers. There are certainly players, I was just in a lvl 20-30 area on the Human side and there were a good 10 or 20 ppl in the area I was in just blowing stuff to smithereens. This is a "word of mouth" game, the advertising, other than gaming magazines hasn't been that great so people like me spread the word about the game.
When I do my review of the game, plenty of people will know how much I Auto Assault
Well even with the "Very Low" pop rating on the server screen I was still competing for some starting area mobs with a few other folks at about 3:00 am, so...
I for one hope the populations get high enough to be viable for the game to continue but stay low enough that I'm not tripping over people and the lag doesn't get out of hand, which in the last days of Beta it was in cities even with the multiple instances.
I think this will beone of those slow build word of mouth deals. Nearly anyone who sits ddown to play it getsn hooked. Then they tell two friends and they tell two friends and so on and so on...
And I agree with others that I think this will be a sleeper hit.
I'm on Apocalypse as well

Yes it's growing! A little slow but noticable! It is really a good game, and keep an eye out for me on Breakdown as a 20+ Human Commando.
I play on Breakdown/Biomek's and i have to admit, i have seen a total of about 30-40 different people in 3 days of playing. Now, as someone thats been playing MMO's since 2000 in my experiances that is a very low amount of people, even this soon after launch. I very much enjoy this game, actuley find it a breath of refreshing air to the genre, but all 4 servers expect one saying "very low" in primetime and the other saying "low" does not look good to new people looking for a game to check out.
I made a test BioMek character on the Carnage server- expecting that I would REALLY play mutants with some RL friends long-term. Even on this low-pop server, I have seen more people racing and blasting alongside me with every successive evening of play. One kind player even gave me a couple nice equipment upgrades!
This game might actually succeed despite the colossal fumble by NetDevil's marketing machine. The game will have to sell itself by word of mouth and free trial folks staying on.
