I played Guild Wars for like a day before quiting. It just sucked in my opinion.
I played Eve for about a month and it has TONS of items and its known for having the best economy in a game. Buts it's not fantasy. Unfortunately it can get really boring, you will need to get into a corporation (clan) to add some longevity to the fun. Then it mostly turns into a chatroom for $15 month.
If you are new to MMORPGs then try World of Warcraft.

EVE is the best MMO out currently IMO. However, it has a steep learning curve and is very complicated. The fun part of the game is not the PvE or developer-provided content (imo, if you focus on that kind of ganmeplay, you will get bored in EVE after a few months at the most), but the player-driven content, conflict and PvP. And more than most games, if you don't find a good corp to belong to, you will also grow bored eventually I think.
I've been playing EVE for 25 months now, and it isn't boring at all really. And no it's not a chatroom either ... the corp I belong to is very active in PvP and there is always something happening.
It is not fantasy, however, so if you're deadset on fantasy, EVE is not the right game for you.
im not stuck to fantasy genre's any active game will do i quite like the sound of final fantasy online does any 1 have any feedback about it.
thanks for the infomatiom so far it has helped.
Its better to avoid EVE if your looking for adventure. (no, traveling while having the risk of getting PK'd does not count as adventure) there is basicly nothing to explore, as all space looks the same. besides, only a few like the game. its very slow.
I'd recommend giving Everquest 2 or DAOC a try. you also might like World of Warcraft, but there is a big chance you might not like it for very long, as you hit the lvl cap pretty fast.
both EQ2 and DAOC have what your looking for, and both currently have a free trial.
Well if you can stick with EVE long enough to get into PvP then I suppose it would be fun but I never got that far. World of Warcraft can get boring after awhile once you reach the cap, the game needs towns to take over and stuff to keep it fun. It's a bit too carebear.
So Everquest 2 would be the next decent game I can think of. MMO world kinda sucks right now IMO. I'm waiting for the future 2006 games for some real fun....hopefully.

Recommend looking through the entire game list and not just the games that have forums.
Vendetta Online is a fun game though
I won second place in the Corporate Race a few days ago. It was a blast but there are player made races and actual racetracks.
The Deneb Run and The Corporate Racec are two of the races right now but there are about 5 other game racetracks. http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Racing
There is a big adventure in Vendetta Online because it has a huge place to explore 20 areas (large sectors) with 16X16 sectors in each one. Items and weapons and even ships are added alot and the game is updated weekly.
It is only 9.99 a month and even less in bulk!
There is also an 8 hour trial too
