EQ & casuel(ish) gamers?

HocheteHochete Member CommonPosts: 1,210

I used to play EQ a while ago, i was never a huge player and only had a couple of lvl 50+ chars (this was back when 60 was the max level though). i'm considering comming back to EQ, as it is one of the best MMO's i've played to date....

what i want to know is, can a casual(ish) player get along in EQ? by casual i mean playing say.... an average of 2-3 hours a day, sometimes it'l be more sometimes it'll be less.

when i used to play EQ it was a seriously hardcore gamers game, without spending ALOT of time on it you wouldn't really get very far toward the high end of the game. is this still true? or have the many millions of expansions changed all that?

cheers in advance!

You can play casually, and more later if you choose. There are many guild in the game that have like minded players, you just need to find one that you are best suited for.

I agree.  I have never been what you would consider a hardcore gamer/player.. I do not have ANY interest in the so called "endgame" (its EVERquest.. whats an end?)   So, that being said, I have a lvl 63 cleric that likes to experience the world and its expansions.  I have a casual guild, we like to get together every once in a while to just see some of the 'scary new zones" but none of us likes that raid attitude either.  I play EQII most of the time now, but I play it in the same style.  Go out on quests, explore the zones fully, not just going out, LFG TO KILL (insert Named Mob).  I have decent gear, I learned how to solo as a cleric and a shaman (in both EQ and EQII) so, its all your attitude and looking for like minded individuals.

Also the last 2 expansions have really opened up the game in DoD with spell missions and many other missions geting full 200+ hp/mp gear is easy. Same with PoR. And with PoR it has some pretty easy raid mobs with 300 ish hp loots as well. PoR Tier 1 gear takes no faction can be gotten easy by the time you can wear it 68+. It is buyable like ornate (cept Bp and Legs) has great stats, bonuses, clickies and wonderful ac. Plate bp is like 87 ac and easly groupable.
