Yeah! It's great to see people streaming and recording their sessions. And nice to see my group's side of things from the OTHER side of the screen (since we're first-person I only ever see Renfail through the paper-doll or at character select).
Is this first person view or is there an option for third person view?
Primarily first person. Third person will be available to certain characters via an Astral Projection style ability. It will level up, have stat restrictions (not every player will be able to have this ability; it will have to be a conscious choice you make as you plan your character's journey in our world), and have limits on it based upon your ability to separate mind from body.
Great to see and loving your ideas. But first person, I just can't play my RPGs like that, on or offline. I get the decision and respect you for sticking with it but no, pass from me. And thats unfortunate because I was really looking forward to this
Best of luck though!

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Yep, it's not for everyone.
It's one of the major differences between us and Pantheon and other games like Chronicles of Elyria and Crowfall and that new Ashes of Creation one... those all focus on third-person experiences (with some optional first-person), while we're focusing on first-person with optional third. That, and we're skill based, not class based. And we don't have experience points. And a slew of other things.
Best part about all these games is lots of things to explore Now to find more spare time....
Indeed. The latest post just went up previewing EA8, which we'll be hosting Labor Day Weekend. There's a new video coming out next week as well, so you'll want to stay tuned for that ... and of course we'll have a ton of updates coming in September from the 20th - 25th as we're in Austin for the Austin Game Conference + having our annual team meeting with 8 of our team members in town for some D&D sessions and fun in between the conference.
'Let me start off by prefacing the following blog post with the simple fact that I am typically *not* a first person gamer. Traditionally, since EverQuest graduated into allowing for third person mode,'
Saw this line was excited about the game until I discovered it had no third person view, wanted to point out that Everquest never graduated to third person view it had it on day one of release. I played the game from early on and I always played it in third person view. Was it different in beta ? Lot of people never realised Everquest had a third person view because you start in first person view and it was the very first 3D MMORPG but the over the shoulder view was what I used when I played.

We did a blog post on it a couple few years back, but it's outdated and needs a few points clarified. But you can get the general idea of what we're going for: https://sagaoflucimia.com/first-person-point-of-view-an-essay
