lineage screwing me over?

by the way does anyone here play lineage??? and when i tried making my COV account, i saw that they offered a free trial to lineage. so i decided to check it out. and after installing it and all that, i try logging in it says i have to make an account, so i go to my account to activate it and i have to use a credit card! wtf! do i have to use a credit card to activate the free trial??? cuz if so it doesnt seem really free to me (even though i understand that i only have to cancel after the free trial period) im just outraged by this cuz i downloaded the client and got all excited for nothing.

I don't think there is a trial for Lineage 2 at all.
btw there was a scammer web site made exactly look like offical site to scam ppl's account info. Not sure if it is still around.

that makes more sense then you think. judging from your post, it seem you were never intrested in really playing (and paying) after the free trial anyway, so its exactly to keep people like you from the servers, and provide the service and support to people that are actually intrested
And giving your credit card details, it's an industry standard, we might not agree with it, but it's not anything new.
Well if you read carefully, when it asks for billing, it should say 1 month after free period.. 3 months after free period...
Free period is I believe 1 month. It is incase you want to keep playing. If you do not like it, click deactiviate. You still get the rest of your time it just won't bill you anymore.

Lineage 2 does have 14 day trials BTW to various above posters. You have to request them or get them from the various email offers from registering any NCsoft game ever. If you unchecked to recieve offers from NCsoft then you won't get them.
Asking for credit card info is standard practice now-a-days, stupid but standard. I refuse to give my main credit cards over the internet and just get a Visa gift card for all my online purchases, but I get upto 2 a month no charge at my bank. So no cost to me generally.
I actualy find the entire concept of automatic recurring billing a stupid institution in modern life. Every billing cycle they should make you actively choose to renew any account with a pop up on your first post billing login. The way some games are setuyp you can't unsubscripe 24/7/365 unless you have the client installed because they do not have 24 hour billling or customer support lines (some do, but not all). If you computer dies or such there can litterally be no way to unsubscribe in time before the next billing and you won't be getting what you paid for and do not always have a way recourse.

Do you know how many people play L2?
It's number one in Korea. It's got WoW-level subscription numbers. Millions of people play it. There's no way they're gonna decide they don't want those subscription dollars anymore. Keep dreaming.
well this whole time ive been talking about lineage 1* i know that L2 is never going to be free unless someone (not me) decides to go to a free server.

i did pay and play ...... i started in OB actually, dont judge to quickly, and people DO play the free trial and quit its nothing uncommon

2~3 million in Korea. Plus the amount from other asian countries, they are just about the same amount of players as WOW. WOW's so called 6m contain all the inactive accounts, or even free trial accounts who is never going back imo.
You should goto your local game store and look at the sticker on the current WoW box. "Over 5 Million Online*" is what it says. Then read the asterix, it is estimated characters on server since release. WoW has upto 6 characters per server and many people have 3+ just for mules and camp auctions. L2 is bigger than WoW, just WoW is biggest in NA.
Look, they both have millions of users, so what difference does it make? Both are good games.
