As previously mentioned the movie you are thinking of is Braindead
Also another from the same director is called Bad Taste
Both of these are New Zealand films which is where the Director is from. Sound familar..the Director was Lord of the Rings himself Peter Jackson.
Neither of these films are scary but they are gory to the max. Good fun to watch.
the, scariest movie ever.......hmmmm.......probably when when i saw this movie cant remember what it was called but it had these guys using a chainsaw to slice everyone up or when some bitch taped over bambi with my mum naked.......scary.

The Chechenie's "taking care of" russian soldiers they have captured, and video taping it.
Thoose things will freeze your bones.
In a Documentary about Auswitch a woman they interviewed who had survived explained how non other then DR. Mengele had when she gave birth tied up her breasts so she could not feed the baby, just to "See how long it would take for the baby to die".
That interview I still think about from time to time.
In light of the real world scary movies become pathetic.

To Razorback and the other senior citizens of the boards, I too thought that scary movies were destined to forever being 'not scary' when compared to our childhood frights... Like 'John Carpenter's The Thing,' scariest of all time until I saw 'The Devil's Rejects'... What a good movie, and scary as hell too...
To horror film fans: 'The Devil's Rejects' will renew your faith in a once dead genre... At 28 years of age, I watched this by myself and very much wanted my wife next to me watching it... I was honestly scared while watching it, haven't had that feeling in a loooooooong time...

Oh, and to whomever said 'The Grudge', LOL!
Oh man I completly forgot about The Thing, that movie was awsome!

Yeah I saw that Throat slit video too. It is hands down the worst and most disturbing video I have ever seen, and I followed Rotten.com and Ogrish.com for years. Second place goes to a news story on a restaraunt somewhere in Asia where they showed the kitchen staff taking live cats and kittens, putting them in a large deep fryer, then pulling them out so they could slide the skin off them still alive. Then they put the cats and kittens to the side to slowly and painfully die until it was time to chop em up.

The Thing was awesome and one of the rare examples of a remake improving the original.
I have to admit I was really surprised with The Devil's Rejects. I was phenomenally disappointed with House of a Thousand Corpses and had doubts about seeing TDR. I will say that while it's horror, I felt it also was more of a revenge/exploitation flick along the lines of 'I Spit on Your Grave.' Having the "victim" be the villains was a nice touch too I thought. That and the 70's flavour.
And for the record, if you have not seen 'I Spit on Your Grave' yet and consider seeing it; be fore warned. It is a disturbing film and contains one of the most nerve-janglingly painful scenes in film for a guy. Pseudo spoiler: Guy, girl, bubble bath, and a knife.

Are you talking about the one from that Faces of Death movie? I havent seen it but I heard about it. Also everything in Faces of Death is supposed to be fake, the director said so himself in some interview, although there are a couple videos out there that are supposed to be real like I think Traces of Death.
the russian having his throat slit isn't a fake lol. i've seen the extended version whereby you see, in great detail, how they proceed to behead him with a small knife. it's the worst video i've seen yet, absolutely horrific and i'd advise no one watch it, especially with sound on

I still think the original exorcist and Nightmare on Elm St are still very creepy and atmospheric.
At the same time, I think horror is making comeback, and getting away from the pretty teenager "I know what you did last....." type movies and more with remakes of the classics, and new stuff like sslither and hopefully the upcoming Silent Hill (I really, really hope it's a good game to movie adaptation, from what I've seen so far it looks good, in a Jacob's Ladder kinda way).
