Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation is more than a long-winded title. It is a video game adaptation of a board game adaptation of the increasingly popular, you guessed it, Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. As such, the video game has all the same pitfalls and restrictions of the board game without the hassle of setting and cleaning up the board and a lot more visual finesse.

I agree this is a pretty good PC board style game, I also really dislike the constant encounter phase...luckily some of our problems with the crafting system have already been changed making it better.

Was interested... but you left out the most glaring issue with it... they left out the multiplayer part of the board game.

I can't imagine waiting even longer between actions with more players, especially waiting for them to confirm between each phase of a turn. I think their exclusion of multiplayer was probably for the best.

Translating a board game to a game using the same ruleset is an exercise in frustration.  D&D is an excellent example, a lot of long wait times for regeneration of magic, stamina, health etc that are not that noticeable in the board game become frustrating in a computer game.

Those D&D boardgames seem to be simulating a computer game (an rpg-lite with no DM), with the different "phases" designed to help the board play itself against the players.

The encounter phase seems to me to rely on some sort of early or expanded sight skill to improve player reaction. Or that is at least how I would have done it.

Mom: We don't talk to Priests.
As if it could exist, without being payed for.
F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
    Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play.  Therefore P2W.
