How do I preview armor on character?

carbonelcarbonel Member Posts: 42

Hi,

I'm interested in seeing what diferent types of armor would look like on my character. I know that, in World of Warcraft, players can go to the auction house and select "View on Character." Is there any way of doing this in Lineage II?

If not, can anyone suggest other ways of seeing what armor would look like on different types of characters? Is there an armor database somewhere online?

Thanks,

Aaron (Carbonel)

You can try the items from npc shops only.

And npc shops only sell low lvl items up to middle C grade.

Any better are craft/drop only. So only players sell them. Or you have to craft them yourself. Don't count on full item drop, it's very rare.

What armor do you want to see anyway? On what character?

    Hi,

I'm interested in seeing how the *same* piece of armor looks on characters of different genders. So, for example, how does the same piece of chest armor appear on a female human compared to a male human?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Well first of course they look different on male and female of the same race.

If you refer to npc items, then make different chars and try them out.

Or you can try to find them on some fan sites of L2. Or ask on those forums.

Or ask people in game to show you on them.

I can't really show you anything beside the ones I have on screenshots already. I am not playing it atm, so my account is inactive.

And it would be a bit harder if what you meant was to try ALL armors in the game on ALL different characters. You need to ask by specific name of the armor and specific character.

btw, don't try to wear something based on the look. L2 is such a game where in most cases it's obivously 1 item is better than all the rest in the same grade. Use them base on their stats, and set bonus, not the look.

Thanks, Jazia and everyone else. I should explain my question further.

I'm researching the different ways that armor are displayed on men and women in the game. My hypothesis is that the same piece of armor will reveal much more skin on female characters than on male characters.

I guess I have a few other questions related to this:

+ Are armor pieces soulbound in Lineage II, or can they be traded between characters?

+ Do you have to be of a certain level to see what the armor looks like on your character? (In WoW my first level priest can see what 60th level armor would look like on her.)

+ Is there any sort of auction house or exchange area in game?

    Thanks for your help!

LoL, I guess we can call you professor? (j/k) Yes you can see "more" skin on the female models in most cases.

No, not bound. Yes, can be traded freely. You can wear gear above your current grade but there is a healthy penalty.

If you use the shop preview , yes it will only show you what grade armor you can currently wear. The only way to "try on" a suit of A Grade armor if you are a D grader is if someone actually gave you their suit. Something that is very unlikely to happen
+ Is there any sort of auction house or exchange area in game?
No, it is all player driven using the "shop" feature on your character. You will need to do all your own buying and selling. You can only buy stuff out of NPC shops to about mid C grade, after that you are on you own.
    Thanks for your help!

I still don't think people are getting what you were trying to say.  But no, there is no way to preview items and armor on your character in Lineage 2 as you can in WoW.  I'm guessing none of the people on here have played WoW, so they probably had no idea what you were talking about.  The only way to see what an item looks like on opposite genders is you either try it on yourself or find another character who is wearing the armor you're interested in.  WoW just happens to have that nifty feature to let you see whatever you want on yourself before buying it.

Actually brihtwulf there is a shop feature but it is only for the shop stuff. You pay the NPC shop keeper like 10 or so adena and you get to see yourself wearing the armor or weapon for like 10 seconds. That only is for shop stuff which is a very small selection of all the armors ingame.

Yes I have played WoW. Played it since release. I cancelled my sub last fall (oct when I switched to this game) and my wife cancelled hers last week. I know the preview feature you are talking about and it is cool. The L2 one is not like that. L2's is much more limited.

Your best bet in L2 is just look around. Same armors look different, not only male/female but different races. No Grade Bronze, for example, will look completely different on an Orc then it does from an Elf or Human (or any other race)

Yea you can do that when you're buying from NPC. There's an option that charges you a small fee to preview equipment on your character. Yea you can do that when you're buying from NPC. There's an option that charges you a small fee to preview equipment on your character.

For higher level equipment that are craft-only, there is no such easy way.

HOWEVER There is a Korean link I can give you: http://lineage2.playforum.net/info/fashion/
The dropdown menu selects your race and sex. The 'A' section lists Heavy, Light, RobesSame with B: Heavy, Light Robe. You choose the set you want to see and the corresponding image should appear on the left. I'm sorry there isn't a similar app on any of the English sites, but I hope that helps.

    MMO Fav List:
    Lineage 2 | 5x Silver Ranger, 7x Shillien Elder <- Active
    WoW | 6x Rogue, 1x Priest
    Anarchy Online | 8x MetaPhysicist
Saga of Ryzom | Matis Light Armourer

Waiting for: Age of Conan, Lineage 3

    Hi,

I just wanted to say thanks to Torak, Jazia, and everyone else who took time to reply to message. Sorry for the delay in replying. The last few weeks of the semester are always a nightmare.

Thanks again. When this research is finally finished, I will be sure to post a link to my findings in these forums.

    Dear Esorlleh,

Thank you so much for the link to the Korean site. With a little logic and lots of patience, I was able to capture 164 screenshots of the different types of armor. Thanks!!!
