General: New Rules of Conduct

StraddenStradden Managing EditorMember CommonPosts: 6,696

MMORPG.com is pleased to announce another phase in our site's changes and upgrades. Many of you have noticed that the new servers are doing their jobs and the site is easier to navigate than ever. Also, our forums have been updated to get rid of those pesky double post issues that people had been having.

Today, MMORPG.com launched our new "Rules of Conduct". Please take a moment to review the new rules, which can be found by clicking the "Rules of Conduct"  tab at the bottom of your screen.

We hope that these new rules will make MMORPG.com an even more entertaining and enjoyable place to visit!

Cheers,

Inappropriate Signatures - Signatures may not contain inappropriate material. Inappropriate material includes, but is not limited to: strong language, links to farming sites, and offensive, erotic or disturbing images.

Yet you have links to farming sites on your site? I dont get it?

  • StraddenStradden Managing EditorMember CommonPosts: 6,696

I'd like to address both ofd those posts if I could.

First, the farming site that appears as an advertisement on our site is just that, an advertisement. We do not want members posting links to farming sites

    1) because then we would have forums full of nothing but gold farming links. We do our best to keep our forums free of that.

    2) It's one thing to have a company paying for advertising space on our site, it is entirely another thing to allow them free reign to advertise on our forums.

As for the spam in the inboxes:

We are aware of the issue and are looking at possible solutions.

    Cheers

Sounds like the SWG Forum should just be deleted then.

I've never received any spam from this site, ever. I feel left out ::::01::. Anything that improves the quality of this site, will always get my support. Keep up the good work. ::::08::

    No annoying animated GIF here!

plus if it was in members signature, you know you wouldn't get the ad-revenue from it. Too bad you don't have the fortitude to stand up to them like other places.

If you want to get into that debate again, please see the designated thread where we've explained our stance a number of time.

Please allow me to clarify about the spam. MMORPG.com does not spam inboxes. We do not sell your information  when you sign up or at any time thereafter. unfortunately, the MMORPG.com email addresses tend to get hit with some external spam. That's what we were talking about.

Please see Lepidus's post for more on the gold farming issue.

There should be option to allow only emails from this site to inbox. Personally I dont even bother looking my inbox anymore as its so full of spam. Would be lot better if it could be used to promote some mmorpg content like offers and such.

As Jon said, it is an issue we're well aware of. Personally, I like that our PMs can be email addresses, but there are obvious flaws. Suggestions on what you guys would like - such as the above - are more than welcome.
