With all the issues they are having this is no surprise. This feels like a stress test alpha. They claim this is beta but in fact it is launch. No more wipes and everyone and there are thousands will have 2 weeks head start over anyone else coming forward. Feelsbad for Your Own buyers.

I have this vision of a Dev wearing rags forging a piece of wire to connect to a piece of ore chiseled from a rock to craft a server on which to run the game.

Guess I'll have to wait a couple more weeks to finally play Progress Bar: Online.

So - is it in Open beta now?   ...  if so - am I missing something, or this "Open beta'  costs 30eur to participate?

They consider the starter island as the "open" part.

They've been compensating for their over-commitment from the launch of the original LiF.  Ever since their original pledge for an open MMO they've been beating a dead horse by trying to cobble together a game with their current engine.

If the current multiplayer version of LiF is meant to be a proof of concept as far as skills/systems/combat then why are they even bothering with an MMO given the current horrid steam reviews?

How is this game for people who do not like what is called survival games? Is this a crafting game with no to very lite mechanical character development? Can I play without crafting and have fun with pve or regular game content like quests or other things to do?

When their ..."main" video on the front page is from 2015 , you don't really need to say much.

I've been having a great time so far. Found a nice guild to join and we've been building and growing together. The game is extremely grindy, but if you can find a decent group of people to talk with while doing the grind then it's really not that bad.

Steam YO owners can play of you link your account on the game launcher, my gaming partner is playing that way. I've been having fun with it, met a good guild today and there is around 25-30 of us building a settlement.

sadly the game doesnt have a chance. Despite all the talk about 'safeguards' this is going to be an all out gankfest game. It will be griefer central and even if you wait the sad part is the no lifers who are just waiting to be tools will never ever leave as long as there is someone whose day they can ruin.

A lot about the game is great but having no 'safe' zones or any mechanics to make aggression a more "RP" aspect the game is destined for failure. But as usual failure is semantics at this point.

The concept of all these games sound great but when there isnt anything to do BUT grief people or RP or some other manufactured (repetitive) style they die off way too fast.

There are allegedly going to be finite resources (I dont believe it) but if they do that and also keep the quality as a major issue then that will add a decent element to the game. But the constant fight over 100Q materials and items is eventually going to get boring as well.

I think I have 800 hours in LiF YO, and that was WITH constant resetting of servers trying new areas and different strategies and 'builds'. Regardless of how you tried to switch it up the outcomes were always the same even with resets and different faces every couple months.

A new RP server is opening this weekend. While RP will not be compulsory on this server, a GM will be in place, with the power to ban people from the server if they deliberately try to prevent RP.

I had bought into this when there was only 1 version. Can I play the MMO version or do I have to renew my aligiance with more cash?

Out of curiosity,  how does one "prevent" role playing?

Trying to understand what sort of activities the GM might moderate.

Darn, I was hoping it was more along the lines of "living my life as a peaceful homesteader" instead of being gank fodder.

that is still your own NOT the MMO.

I have walked around the MMO a bit, pretty empty. I have seen 957 people in the chat so there are people around. I saw 3 others in the hour or so I ran around the south end of the map, saw a few plots built. No griefing yet but one guy was armored and had he seen me who knows.

I am goingot go back in in a bit havent been on today hoping to see more people on since its a Saturday but you never know. Its 3 or 4 days old now so people might be bored again already.

Thinking about running all the way up to the middle of the map where the trade icons are but that would probably take 2 hours...
