Last week’s Crowfall Q&A had Gordon Walton on and he talked about transitioning Crowfall from its crowdfunding stage to the next: marketing it for its release. Today, a week after that Q&A, ArtCraft released a founder’s update. This update lays down the details about the upcoming transition from crowdfunding the game to selling its preorders.

"EVE is likely the best MMORPG that you've never really understood or played" - Kyleran
If a single player that took part in crowd funding had the perception the game was not coming, why the heck did they give money then?So the perception would not change one bit as they obviously believed it would release no matter what phase it is in.
"GREAT people, easy to get along with",haha what else would an employee say being paid and put on the spot? What is she going to say...i don't like working here,i wish Artcraft would go bankrupt?Furthermore ,what does that have to do with the game?Even if i was someone thinking about working at Artcraft,i wouldn't be like....ok i guess i am in,she said it was great here,so it has to be.
Me? I wouldn't back a single game,i am a customer, not a sucker,i buy products that work not products that might work or will work some time in the future.
If these rich guys couldn't trust themselves to build a game with their own money, then why on earth would i trust them with my money?
There has not been one and i doubt will ever be one quality game through these free money ventures.Nobody on this planet will ever respect money given to them the same as if they had to earn it.
Bottom line, this Crowfall team needs to start sending meaningful videos, something that might actually entice a person to want to play, however they stil need a game to advertise, not promises.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
I used to follow the game until I learned it was going to go pvp centric. It think it will have pve, but only to provide fodder for pvp players. It's not consensual pvp either. I don't think there will be pve only servers.
I hope the game is successful, but doubt it will ever be more than a niche game with a small population. Which is fine, as long as it makes enough to keep it going. If I'm off on any of this i'm sure someone will correct me.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
I think http://crowfall.wikia.com/wiki/Campaign will help out a lot in gaining an understanding.
Pillars of Eternity and Path of Exile. There is a slew of quality games made from Crowd funding, and I've backed quite a few.
Earned it? You mean had a publisher decide they wanted to publish it and direct the game how they see fit, seems to be doing quite fine for the gaming aspect with giants out their like EA gobbling up every good studio just to end it.
ARPG"S after having played both POE and Diablo3 are now completely off my radar, they are THAT bad, that cheap.
Pillars was a throwback to dated game design,it is simply not good enough when compared to bigger studios.I played Pillars for one day and have not gone back to it,matter of fact, the last 6 games i purchased,i have not played them beyond the first day, there has not been many quality games any genre,in a long time, only a handful out of the thousands of studios.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
To make things clear,i have no doubt the industry is capable of making a LOT of triple A games, they simply cannot or will not take the risk of going in too deep.
I feel there is a distinct reason as to why i enjoyed years of FFXI starting back in 2003.That team led by Tanaka at SE went into deep debt,5 years worth of debt.I did nbot find that out to years later reading interviews with Tanaka but it shows the team was willing to take 5 years to recoup costs before turning a profit. Now a days studios are asking for money UP FRONT with either no effort or little game to show. There is a huge difference in trust and confidence and now a days there is little trust in themselves and no faith in their own work to go into debt.
I would venture a bet that 99.9% of the studios right now would go defunct if they had to endure 5 years of self debt before turning their first profit.
Here is a little something ,some might remember maybe not but the guy from Kings Isle "JTodd"once stated that "if people think designing a game is as easy as having 200k,they are grossly wrong".That statement i remember from about 3 years ago,it stuck with me because it really says a lot about these studios trying to make games with sub par budgets.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
From my side, i'm looking forward to it.
I self identify as a monkey.
I am however (as a massive FF fan with 20+ titles owned in the series) curious what is your favourite FF besides your obvious FF11, it might give me some perspective on what you like, if anything at all.

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Of all the games to use these arguments against Crowfall is the wrong one. I guess when people read the word Crowdfunding they just go off without looking at the actual product.

There won't be any PvE servers. Mobs will exist to add danger to the world and provide drops for certain crafting components. The different types of servers will be different PvP rulesets, from 3 faction PvP to guild-based servers akin to Shadowbane.
There won't be any dungeons, raids or quests, so having a PvE server wouldn't really make much sense. Harvesting and crafting will be part of the PvP competition, players fighting over resources, creating the best gear they can to give them an edge against their enemies.
Each player will have his own Eternal Kingdom though, where you can turn PvP on or off. You can make your EK public or private and build it up however you want, but only the most basic resources will be available there. I'm sure there will be some players who spend all their time in their EK and try to play the economy to get better resources that they can then use to craft and/or build up their EK. Others will gravitate toward the faction based campaigns which will probably be more solo-friendly.
