How does the MMORPG community feel with the idea of Bioware getting their hands dirty into a MMMOG.
What would be your guess on the type of game their growing in the womb of their Austin office?
Do you think they are going to follow in line and give us just another variation of the many MMOG out there in play and development or will they try to give us something fairly fresh and new?
Of course everyone understands that Game designer and developers have their own Ideas about what a good game should be, but wouldnt it be fair to say that the consumers know as well if not more.Should bioware tap into their vast NWN community of modders and get some truly fresh insights on the game they want to develop?
My hopes are:
1. The game setting is sci-fi. This will hopefully give them much more opportunity to create some truly new characters. I fear that if they go fantasy they will fall into the elf, dwarf, ogre syndrome.
2. That they break the mold and not follow the same cookie cut character/class relations we have seen in just about every MMO past, present, and future.
3. I hope they do tap into their Mod community for some truly innovative stories, characters, and mechanics. I am a fledgling modder but the stuff that people have created with the limited tools at their disposal is just incredible.
4. This last point is probably the most important one for me. I would like them to develop some in game need that pools the community to interact more. SWG had the catina's and hospitals with entertainers and doctors accordingly. The down time that came from undertaking long missions was a great way to break the monotony and gave people good reason to mingle with each other.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: I have no clue what they're working on, it will probably be independant of their current franchises, as they've been trying to break out and do their own stuff, but that's my only thought on that so far. But regardless of what setting and mechanics they annouce, this is one MMO that I'll be following closely simply due to the fact that it is being put out by an established game development house.

I have a hunch that Biowares new mmo will be made in a relatively quick timeframe (say 1.5 or 2 years)...
I also have a good feeling that it will be the best mmorpg to e released in many years having tons of detail, character customization options, skills galore, options galore, great graphics, and a very well thought out game design with fun as the primary element.
Bioware is a very talented company and know how to put out some of the best and most dedicated games out there. They don't seem to cut corners at the cost of fun or immersion.
I don't even know what kind of mmo they are making... but regardless, I am very eager for details and to give it a try whether it be sci-fi, fantasy or what-ever. (I also have a hunch it will be more along the lines of a fantasy D&D style mmo)
But who knows. Time will tell....
