My opinion of the Switch is an overpriced piece of junk. Kids are already on their 4th controller and I am not even going to bother listing all the issues we have had with the console. The next thing that breaks it goes in the garbage.
Beyond the new Mario game and Zelda, I have yet to see a good title on it. I just do not grasp why people think this is a worthwhile buy.
I believe they sell silicon covers that you can put on your kids to protect the switch.
I can't believe people choose their kids over their gaming device. It's like we're back in the Dark Ages!

Also lol at the kids breaking controllers. I've broken down both a PS4 controller and an Xbox1 one, my Switch however can take all kinds of abuse. And for a device on the market for less then a year their gaming library is stellar.

Being a life-long PC (5 years old on a Commadore 64), Sega, the PS player I have never, ever been interested in the Nintendo...with the amount of convergence going on most of the stuff I really play can be found elsewhere. So should I really get a Switch when really 3-4 games exclusive to it are the must haves?
The fact that you can play every game in handheld mode makes it a unique experience. I have had my switch for over a month and never once played it on my TV lol. Being able to lay down comfortably and play skyrim in bed was once a dream that has become reality.
The game selection on the Nintendo shop is pretty extensive as well. I was surprised how many titles are available.
This^
And i want to add that Nintendo has many must-have exclusives. The machine hasn't even reached 1 year since launch, so that means there's a huge catalog of Nintendo-only must-haves coming our way.

Sorry Lahnmir, but the kids have never broken either of our xbox or playstation controllers, yet the Switch controllers seem to self destruct on command not to mention we are on the 2nd docking station and now the kids tell me there is something wrong with the screen on the POS. Worst console on the market bar none!!!

@Grakulen I was a huge fan of Xenoblade Chronicles X, even bought the WiiU just for it; although, somewhat regret having done that due to the Switch coming out just a few months later. I don't currently own a Switch, but am considering purchasing one to experience Xenoblade chronicles 2. Do you think it is worth purchasing the Switch to play XC2? Of course, I would also pick up BoTW, but there really isn't much else on the Switch that interests me; Nintendo doesn't tend to have a game lineup that particularly interests me much, due to the general lack of exclusive titles (aside from Xenoblade).
Sorry for the late reply.
I would not buy the Switch just for Xenoblade. But with exclusives like Mario Kart 8, Zelda BOTW, Super Mario Odyssey, Octopath Traveler, etc. There are plenty of reasons I would pick one up.

So far, the Switch has gotten at least one noteworthy AAA exclusive or Wii U port each month. That's a better cadence of quality exclusives than Playstation (over the last year) and certainly better than the overpriced Netflix machine that is the XBox One.
So, I purchased the Switch, XC2, BotW, and Mario+Rabbids. I have to say, it is the most unique console experience I have ever had. Thank you for the input, Grakulen.
Its pretty standard JRPG if you ask me. Best part about it is really the epic world design... it looks gorgeous and you cant help but take it in while out on the field.
Combat drags and is a little too complicated but fun and unique (-ish) once you get it. Standard JRPG .... "teen boyscout saves the world" kind of plot, but to its defense its well done/told at least.
Cliche anime profile characters, "bouncy" damsel in distress, etc ... the whole thing. Too complicated with the wrong things and the tutorials just kind of gloss over it. Yet way too simple and mundane with others. Way too much RNG too with pretty much every single drop... from that silly Salvaging mini-game to even acquiring new blades. Side quests are OK sometimes but mostly fall into that MMORPG slum where youre just doing chores for NPCs. In fact the game in general hits so many bad/modern MMO pitfalls my eyes hurt from all the eye rolling.
I agree mostly with Gamespots 7 review score. Second Xenoblade game I try so dont think theyre worth a purchase for me tbh.
My initial impression of this is... ambivalent. I like the artstyle a lot, and I see plenty of room for depth, but the game is practically trying its damnedest to be disliked. It probably improves with time, and I will be giving it more time to see if its combat dramatically improves with more party members and abilities, however, the early game is almost unplayably bad. The slow start, poor early story, incredibly shallow early game combat, and constant battle dialogue make an incredibly poor impression very quickly.

@Aeander , the combat definitely improves. From coordinated group attacks, to 4 different stages of specials. Once you get more blades the playstyle changes. I have a huge gun blade, 2 hand axe and Spear, duel Scythe, gauntlets, Powerball etc. I agree with you that the beginning is slow and in till you get a 3 party team the fights are not that exciting. But it does get a lot better.
After sinking 120+ hours into it (mostly spent farming all the rare blades), I'd say its a fantastic game as long as the art style/anime tropes don't bother you too much. 8/10
At first, I'm not so much into JRPG, but as I watch its Game Trailer and I knew I have watched it as an Anime series, I was awed by its perfection. Not so much with its gameplay as its a bit lame for me in the beginning.

@Grakulen Holy shit, thank you so much for mentioning Octopath Traveler. I had no idea this game existed. I downloaded the demo last night and absolutely love it! The graphics and aesthetics remind me of the Squaresoft I grew up playing in the early to mid 90s.
I cannot wait for the release. Just wish we had an actual release date instead of just "2018". This is now my top game I'm looking forward to on my Switch.

If you happen to hear any inside info on a release date. Feel free to PM me lol
Now that i'm almost done with the game. I'm really hoping they bring Xenoblade Chronicles X to the Switch. Being an exclusive to the Wii U doesn't do it justice. TBH, the first game even looks better than the sequel. I'm optimistic though, I would be really surprised if it didn't eventually get ported to the Switch.

I also hope they bring XCX to the Switch. I read an interview with the producer that basically said it really depends on how well XC2 does on whether they will port XCX.

It's been the top seller on the Nintendo e-shop since it's release. So hopefully that will motivate them to port asap.
As someone who has never clicked with JRPGs before i watched soneone playing this on Twitch and then bought it. Its really cool. Great setting, interesting characters and a good story. Its got quirks (it never autosaves! Beware you have to keep saving manually) but its a great game. 85% seems right.
I have been considering buying the Switch still think it is too expensive but that Octopath Traveller caught my eye too. So three games is what I'm buying it for (Zelda and Xenoblades) I don't play Mario so those are out as I'm horrible at Platformers.
