Yay, Greg the ranger is back

or at least his skeleton. And one leg, which is oddly potent against dragons.
Apparently your love-hate relationship with p'n'p D&D hasn't changed since Neverwinter... but it's still great to finally make a DDO review. (and a longer one that the other, still standing Turbine game's was...)

Which reminds me, after the "I don't know if Ravenloft is an actual thing on D&D" part I missed a similar newspaper insert like the LotRO one was. But yeah, Strahd might as well be Dracula, that was a nice guess

Great video and sort of makes me want to try it again "just" for that expansion. Problem is that the rest of the game doesn't capture me so leveling to 10 might be too arduous.

Alas, I'm with Sovrath. I quit playing waaaaay back in the beginning because of having to grind the dungeons over and over to level, but also because of the barrel smashing. The gameplay was pretty good though, and having skills like swimming and jumping that actually improve the movement of your character. Oh, and blinding spells that actually blinded you!

If Ravenloft no longer has you going around smashing barrels, I might have to find a way to get myself a lvl 10 character and try it.

You should have paid attention to the ad's here on the homepage. From the 7th to the 17th DDO was letting players create and auto-level characters up to level 10 so they could go directly to Ravenloft.

You don't HAVE to bust up barrels in any of the dungeons if you don't want to and there are players that don't.

Granted you miss out on some loot (important for the lower levels) and extra XP, but don't do it if you don't want to.

Not too bad if you get on the right server as some have better pop's than others. I'd say low on the actual new people, but there's always low level characters around for those doing alt's etc.....

Leveling in this game does suck. It was fun for about 8 levels for me. The f2p model is just as bad as swtor's.

Sure... and I don't HAVE to loot the chest at the end, either.

But if the game insists that some of the currency lies in barrels, and they also give you an XP bonus at the end for wrecking barrels, and most importantly, the game makes you repeat content already, then it's a thing that you're generally gonna do to minimize that.

It's a lesson, I suspect(hope) they've learned. If you encourage your players to play your game in a way that's not fun, you're gonna lose them.

Thanks you for this video. Never played DDO before, thansk to your video, gave it a try and since then been having a blast. Already on my second life. What a great game.
