I enjoy it a bunch, it and EVE, which have, as near as I can tell, the two most vibrant player-run economies. However, I'm willing to admit it's not for everybody (what is?). Why did you leave?

I think it depends on why you left.
I left a couple years ago and played other MMORPGs for awhile (SWG, EQ2, WoW). There was something about FFXI that I missed so a couple months back I figured it was worth trying again. Right now the Vana'diel Collection is only $19.99 (EBGames.com) and that of course includes the 1st month free. I see that as very little investment.
Again though, I guess it depends on why you left. I personally am glad I came back.
How populated are the severs these days?
How is the wait time for finding groups?
Are there any new servers where everyone had to start fresh?

The servers are quite populated; you see thousands of people on each server all the time. The wait time varies wildly depending on your level and job, from "Dammit, quit sending me invites, I'm not levelling right now!" to having to seek for an hour or more, and everything in between.
Not really. Some of the servers are newer than others, but none are all that new. Even the newest are a couple of years old. Furthermore, new servers got migrations of old players from the old servers, so they aren't all that different.

I plan to come back, WoW is just too freakin' easy.
WoW just doesn't seem like I accomplished anything, this game....It does.
I worked hard for the levels and the skills, and I'm proud to add that game to my personal favorites.
All these kids are like I love WoW it's so much fun. Yeah, it's fun cause you can PvP, just play Guild Wars.
The only problem is....you can't play Final Fantasy if you have only a couple of hours to play, if you play you must have 7+ hours or don't even question it.
I say, go for it...if you questioned going back then you must have done something in the game that made you question yourself to come back or not. Go for it, you got nothing to really lose if you try.

Oh I know how this game can drain time but thats why I need to play somthing like this, Ive got too much time on my hands... I just dont want to buy the game then see that there are very few lower levels to group with.
This is a really excellent time to join, then. With a surge of new players from the 360 launch, and a brand-new expansion with three new jobs people are wanting to level, there's an abundance of lower levels at the moment.
