So I would have to gamble with a lootbox to get a likely poorly made feature that will require a single click and is only harvestable once per day? Like. Legitimately. They could have just saved this for the next expansion and made it a worthy feature -- or a part of real housing instead of just a static home instance -- instead of this. Heck, even a guild feature with the guild halls that could be big and require team work to keep things planted, trimmed and watered.
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

You can also buy up to 2 plots max from the gem store for 1000 gems each.

The Garden Plot is a buy-for-gems feature, not in the Black Lion chests. It seems like fun - you can find extra seeds for more exotic plants by going out and farming the regular plants in the countryside.

...I can also add that visitors to your home instance are not able to harvest what you have planted, unlike the normal "nodes." They just see "growing plants" if they use the launchpad to visit that corner.

Interesting, the mention of housing. We've had flying/gliding, we've had mounts - could player housing be a feature for the next major expansion...?

IF they made housing and instanced so it could be fully customized like in rift it would be great.

    Thanks for that information.
I invested a fair amount of money into my home instance cause I like to share with my friends and if they don't benefit from this then this new feature is a whole lot less appealing to me.

There was a leaked rumor some months back before the pof expansion came out that suggested that Anet was going to add player housing but cut it because they wanted to add it in as a selling point for another expansion.

"Player housing has been developed, but didn't make the cut this expansion. It's been postponed as the big selling point for the next possible expansion. This would've included us being able to customise a large plot of land, which acts a lot like current Guild Hall decoration. We could choose the spots of our resources, and it will make a lot of use of Scribing. You'd get a lot of basic decorations to start with, but if you want to spend a ton of money and resources on it, you can do it."

But its just a rumor, most of this stuff have already been proven wrong or slightly incorrect.

I would like to see gardening added to guild halls. That would have real potential as a community feature.

My friend COULD harvest the normal plants, as long as she did it before I harvested them. I don't know if the special plants for the new recipes can be harvested by friends since they are accountbound. I just unlocked these so i will know tomorrow.

Yes, I experimented today and found that people could farm the new garden plot if I hadn't taken the stuff for myself yet... different people could do it at different times, and after that I farmed the 4 nodes myself. So I converted a bit more gold to gems and bought the second plot. I see that, while we are currently limited to two plots, there is a third vacant plot adjacent, at least in the Divinity's Reach home instance, so that may get added later. I am on 6 of the 21 additional seeds to add variety, mainly from the existing home instance nodes... getting all 21 unlocks some special recipes, apparently.

Giving us housing and mounts in the same expansion would have been a bit over-generous, perhaps - it looks like we may need to wait a year or two before getting our own houses, sigh...

I like fully customizable housing like Everquest 2. Otherwise it is meh.
