What does AA being rated #1 say?

I don't see how blowing things up is different than the genocide in other games to build faction. Or the mass slaugther of animals for materials to craft things you will just sell to an NPC. Or killing the same animals to collect a single tooth/paw/bone from to turn in for a quest. EQ2 may be complex in some areas, but 90% of the quest are not. They are goto spot and get update, kill animals until your tally is full, and even blow up the machines in the cave.

You draw an arbitrary line that is no different from any other. If you don't like AA just say so, but don't pretend the goals in other games are more complex, they are just worded differently.

Edit: miss quoted, bah whatever leave text there.

And not just because you can't the the required drops, but a lvl 8 quest requireing you to kill lvl 15 mobs, that you get at lvl 6. It's right next to impossible.  Granted most of these issues are only on the mutant side, but if that's the side you where looking to play, you are up shit creek with out a paddle.
That being sad, I'm keeping the game around and will go back to it in a couple months, when they've had a chance to get it to a final release state, instead of the beta i paid for.

Sorry but no idea what game you're playing. The game is far beyond a released state. I'd go so far as to say this is the most complete and bug free launch title I have ever played. I'm playing a mutant and I'll be running into the quest you supposedly found bugged, I'll be backt comment on that later.

Just for a laugh, what game would you consider released in a more complete state than this one?

I play mutant, and I've yet to find that quest either.  I'm saying mutant quests are all working - mesa rojo challenge is still broken - but I haven't seen the one you're referring to.  Honestly though, they're working overtime to get these up and going.  Every time I check the boards I read about how certain missions have been fixed.  That's a good sign.

And I don't know any MMORPG that had 100% of its quests working at launch.

    I am a long
time gamer and a long time visitor to this site.. (I just do not post much),..
As far as MMO’s AA is a fun game.. it is very action oriented and while it may not
have some of the depth of some of the MMO’s
it is still a good game and worth a look.. Its rating here merely
reflects the attitude of this sites readers.. You want a true measure check out
the companies sales or look at the reviews..
In my mind it’s a good game and the future looks fun..

AMEN!! who cares if its mature. The reason most play MMO's is to let our minds escape to a fictitious world where we RULE and have fun. I never understood the why some choose to take these games so serious. ITS A GAME JUST HAVE FUN AND IF ITS NOT YOUR THING DONT PLAY IT!!

Just thought i'd chuck in my 2 cents worth. I havn't actually played the game or even seen it in the stores here (UK). But i have been waiting for this game for a long time. After trawling the forums regarding AA I would say that Europe has been largely ignored, i have not seen any reviews in the main magazines for instance. It sounds like the sort of game i'd like to try but in Europe it seems a waste of time as i have no hope of getting a key to try the trial as no one knows about it. The EU website is very very poor compared to the US one.
From what i can gather levelling from start to finish is also very quick (for a MMOG).
If i cant even trial it, its a short game and the support is horrible i think this will stay on the backburner and will check the forums to see if things have got better in 3 months.

Looks like its Eve and Wow for awhile yet

Try it yourself. Listening to reviews and other posters and going by the to make your decision is like when your buddy sets you up with a blind date and you decide to marry her instead without having met her. At least go out on the first date before you decide. That should go without saying but I just had to comment because I love the game.

Although I dont see myself paying to play this game, it did have enough entertainment to hold my interest for a week or two. Its just not my style. But i can see how this game has the potential to become a hit. It has a solid story, nice graphics, nice gameplay and lots of content. Sure it has bugs but when i tested this game for a week, i found it almost as solid as WoW in its beta stage.
OP's logic in his statement is "flawed". You consider people who like to "blow shit up" in a game as a menace or have mental capacity of a 12 year old. But in reality, they dont "blow shit up" to be "bad" but rather "blow shit up" to be good. Its like the mad max movie, hes is bad, but in being bad he is good... are you following me? If not, i will try to elaborate more.
Generaly speaking people are good natured. With proper parenting, food, education, healthcare and livelyhood every person has a good nature (im an optimist like that). So, by having a regular life, going to school, doing chores, sports, reading books etc etc, people do not get adrenalin rushes that often. Now, make a computer game where you do get a simulated world with simulated violence, where people CAN do violence and yet still keep their good nature and you have a blockbuster hit on your hands. Thats why I dont believe violent games and movies encourage violence. No, I believe bad parenting promotes violence, drug addiction promotes violence, people without humor or imagination promote violence. After all, has anyone seen a game where you have to kill, torture, enslave whole races in order to achieve the ultimate goal of genocide? I havent. Becuase I believe people in general are good spirited, most of them simply dont know it yet.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

My 2 cents... based on my beta experience (up to patch 106) that should still be mostly accurate.

I found the game to be an interesting change from the usual "click and wait", with nice graphics and some original ideas (crafting system, random loot) that make it stand out from the mass of average games. It was also relatively mature on the programming side, except for a really annoying bug that made my ATI graphics card hang frequently (and still exists according to the official forums).
On the down side, the lack of any consequences from dying makes things a bit shallow. Also, the lack of item decay threatens to kill the well designed crafting system in the long run, which is a shame.

Overall, I give it a 7 out of 10 as of a few weeks ago, and I see a lot of potential for future improvement  (tweaking driving physics offers endless possibilities). If it wasn't for the ATI bug and that I want to try Seed before getting hooked on something else, I would be driving through the wastelands now

Now, I promise this was my last post on AA unless I buy the game and have reviewed the latest patch.
Which could still happen, depending on what I hear about the direction the game takes

I have an ATI Radeon X800 pro card and haven't noticed anything. The game plays flawlessly, except last night I zoned into town and everything was black. So I relogged and it was fixed, but this was after playing about 5 hours straight. Also, Seed doesn't come out for plenty of time to be able to get your fun out of AA. Really hope you get the game, it's just too dang fun.

    The game worked like this:

You drive the speed limit down nicely city streets, you lose points if you speed. You pick up your kids form soccer. You work with the kids on issues like, growing up, how to deal with a bully and why their grades could improve.

Then you drive safely home, you let the kids out. You get them to clean their room, you make dinner. You read them a story, put them to bed. Then you go to bed earily becuase you have to get up at 5am to get them off to school well feed, and make into work on time yourself. Where you sit and some pompus add tell you what to do for 8 hours, and he only has that job becuase his Dad owns the company.

    but...

For reason not well understood, this version of the game, while very mature didn't sell very well. So they went back to the "blow shit up" it does allot better.

LOL!  Brilliant.  I play that game daily.  The monthly fee runs into the hundreds.

    News flash for Mr. Jarhead:

All MMORPG are basically different graphical shells wrapped around some kind of avatar, with:

    A) The avatar being able to influence (i.e. damage, buff or heal) other virtual beings according to some programmed formula or algorithms
    B) The avatar being able to withstand X influence from other virtual avatars or AI avatars before going poor
    C) The player of the avatar spending the bulk of his/her time at the keyboard seeing new graphical scenery and inflicting said algorithms on other bits of code that represent other non-existent beings, whether player-controlled or AI-controlled-- all so that the avatar's algorithm will increase in potency relative to the game world as a whole.
    D) The player also spends time trying to obtain little bits of additional code to add extra potency to his/her avatar's algorithms.
    E) Rinse and repeat steps A-D ad nauseum.

So, tell me, really, how does blowing things up in AA differ mechanically from running up to a blue-conning mob in EQ or DAoC or WoW (or substitute any fantasy MMORPG here) and applying one's sword or fireball algorithm?

The difference in AA is that you can't just run up and hit your auto-attack key and your /stick command, you actually have to use non-stop manual dexterity in a way few other MMORPG can touch.
