Hey guys n gals,

I'm in search for my perfect MMO. Here are some aspects that need to be covered before you awesome aimers give me a list to pick from, okaly dokaly?

a) MUST be quite large, with a mature community and end game content
b) Prefer fantasy - have yet to find a good sci-fi MMORPG -
c) Leveling system has to be rewarding
d) The content of the game should be plenty, while the bugs are a few
e) Financial subjectives = no problem
f) Graphics not necessarily top notch, just as long tas the community is large
g) PVP as well as PVE - I'm a carebear so VE over PVP
h) C'mon, it has to be FUN - keep in mind I am an ex-EQ2 subscriptor, so I may tend to favour SOE and the EQ bloodline

Cheers everyone.

It'd be nice if you could list the games you've played already (only EQ2?). But to be honest, that's quite a bit to ask for, and if there is a game that fits all that criteria I'd like to know myself. I'd suggest WoW but I wouldn't say it has a 'mature' community like you're asking for, and perhaps you've already been down that road. Anyways, best of luck.

"MUST be quite large, with a mature community"

    That's an oxymoron. Sorry.

Zythyl,  I'm afraid you'll have to wait for Vanguard by the sound of it.

Hmm, maybe you should try DAoC or EVE online. But they are not that big, I think bit less then 200,000 subscribers. Haven't played EVE, DAoC is mostly RVR centric, but there are more pve then pvp lands,so you dont have to pvp if you dont want, and their pvp system dont let you attack platers from your realm. Before I joined DAoC, I was mostly pve gamer (came from EQ), but now I love pvp

I would say ffxi, quite large, decent graphics, mature, rewarding leveling

Gee, I was thinkin eq2 would be perfect till the last part.  maybe try DAoC?  Ya, it's more pvp than pve but there is plenty of both.  Plus, the pvp that  there is actually has a point to it. (unlike most pvp games)  it's kinda dated so the graphics aint the best but I still go back every now and then and am happy when i do.  just a sugestion.

I haven't played many MMOs but will add what I've heard however you should always give the free trail a whirl first (if there is one).

    A) EVE online

    B) Fantasy:Don't know as I don't play it. SCI-FI: EVE

    C)  Not certain what you mean need to be more specific since all leveling systems are rewarding in one sense or another.

    D) Plenty of Content: GW (so I've heard). Few bugs: would be quicker to tell you which games are bugfests SWG, RF Online (so I've heard).

    E) ok but AO and Shadowbane are totaly free (I found AO a bit repetetive myself) and GW has no subscription fee and EVE has subs but free expansions.

    F) large community: WoW, GW, EQ, DAOC, L2. Large community doesn't really mean a good one though as Ragnarok has a big community but I wouldn't say it's neccessarily a good one.

    G) PVE over PvP: not sure here as I'm the opposite so I can tell what is PVP focused: EVE, RF online, DOAC, GW, Shadowbane (I think). Although these games are focused on PVP you can quite happily spend all your time ingame not PVPing and still be fully occupied.

    H) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, $OE is the MMO incarnation of evil and Smedley is thier darklord of deprevation. I suggest you get SWG and burn in the eternal fires of damnation, or repent now!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
