"favorite manufacturers" is a bit too much if you ask me ...

also for $200 i would pick Audio-Technica AT2020 (for under $100) or even AT4040 (for $220 or so) and both of those would blow this one wannabe STREAMING mic out of the water and more.

on the other hand if it was under $100 then yes it might have been a contender but at $200 range it's not even worth the mentionioning let alone calling it "Golden Hardware Award" item :D

Christopher, sometimes you have great reviews with great valid points... other times I want to ask "Who paid you for this one?" ...

In any case... keep up the good work

Ehhhhh... I don't know. Both of those mics are XLR and require an interface which adds another $100 on there. You could say the USB version of the AT2020 is a contender, but that's $149 and doesn't have a high-pass filter, vocal limiter, pop filter, or adjustable stand. Those features are a big reason why the $199 price is a bit more reasonable than it first appears. I actually used the AT-2020USB+ for a long time before this one and still use it for YouTube work. It's a great mic, but doesn't offer quite as much.

hehe lets keep in mind that AT2020 was first showcased at the AES convention in 2004 :D that is 14 years old tech and still competitive (http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/news/3e36b2ccd6a4640c/index.html)

The fact that is it still considered as one of the best in the price range on the market says a lot to me.

Also keep in mind u have AT2035 ($110), MXL 990 ($100), Behringrer B-2 Pro ($150). These companies had proven to produce quality equipment that is highly regarded...

AS to XLR vs USB.. its not as big of a problem as people think it is.. u can pick up Xenyx 502 mixer for like $30 on Amazon.

And quite frankly... if i need to pick up a mic for streaming .. Razor will not be anywhere near the top of the list.

I had to setup a streaming PC some time ago and it was cheap and easy to do (BM-800 XLR mic for $25 + Behringer Xenyx 502 $40 + Boom arm stand $13 + 2 dual shielded RCA to 3.5mm cables about $10... that was it for a professional setup for under $100) and then i dropped $300 on ATH-M70x (my favorite headphones). :D

Haha, that last bit cracked me up. It all seriousness, I love Audio Technica. They are one of my favorite companies when it comes to audio gear. A lot of gamer's getting into streamings, though, won't even consider a lot of those brands because they just don't exist in the same space. A while back I did some reviews on a bunch of different streaming Mikes to try to shed some light. Maybe it's about time I start investigating interfaces? I personally have no issue at all with XLR as a musician myself. I think a lot of people out there are looking for the simplest possible solution, though, which is where items like this can get away with asking what they do.
