Don't often see updates from this title and it seems to go under the radar a lot. Does anyone know what the state of development and their roadmap is?

Game sounds so good, it's hard to be patient for release.

With that said, I'm glad they're taking their time and not releasing until everything is done.

They do in game live streams every 3months and they update their webpage with news as well.  Check out their youtube page and see the differences between 2 years ago and now.  Insane progress and to think their whole team all works remotely to save on costs of an office before Beta.

It does but that's probably because both of them take inspiration from Alan Lee's work.

if ther game is anything like their website optimization, we are in trouble.

well it is using unity isn't it?

    Hearthstone uses Unity,runs like crap.
Gorgon uses Unity runs like crap.

So i took a deeper look to see what;s out there.

Well right now there is this short story called ADAM done in real time Unity.

    Looks cool right....
Well you'll notice most all graphics outside the actual robot are dithered out,non viewable. Then as the robot goes outside it is similar to other Unity stuff i see floating around where they simply repeat the exact same model and render it 50-100x over.

None of this showcase stuff that looks good is doable in a mmo game, not even close,so why the bother to show it off it just trying to misrepresent their product.Yes with technology you can render in this stuff with real live people via editing but again this is NOT happening inside a game.

I think at this stage in time if Pantheon had something amazing to show off we would definitely be seeing it.So what can we expect, well that lead me to a thought, maybe way out there, maybe possible who really knows, but i had a thought this game might actually utilize some of Landmarks assets, yeah a far fetching idea but it is possible.

In the end i expect the game to look and run similar to Vanguard...EQ2ish,nothing wrong with that,i just hope it runs better.

Crowfall is using Unity and while it's not the best MMO engine, it runs their MMO about as well as you can expect a low budget MMO to run.

That demo is meant to show off the improvement to the rendering pipeline in Unity 5 and it has indeed come a long way. When you say you see the "same model and render it 50-100x over" do you understand that MMOs are developed this way as well? Art assets are not easy or cheap to make and so developers tend to create libraries of them for a variety of uses and then repeat them over and over in different configurations. This not only saves on the client size but helps with efficiency in rendering. Open world games in general do this as well, including Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3.

"With technology you can render in this stuff with real live people via editing" is not even close to what is going on in that video. The realism is thanks to sculpted models in ZBrush which are then retopologized into lower resolution models with less polygons but still use the high res version for a normal map that conveys the detailed lighting information without the extra geometry. Further, the PBR (Physically Based Rendering) pipeline means the materials look real because of the reflections of light done by the renderer. You are quick to judge an engine that you clearly don't know much about, so in the future I suggest at least more than one youtube video as research before posting assertions like that.

The legendary hero crap made me wanna hurl (what's wrong with a regular level one dude setting out on an adventure?), and the Gnomes look like cyberpunk space age freaks (not the pipe smoking chilled out race I am accustomed to). But, at least the Elves seem to be in line with a D'n'D J.R. "The Tokes" Tolkien type of world. I am hoping for a decent game, but I think the radical visionary's who are influencing the design element of the game are, as usual, ruining it. What most of my EQ friends have stated to me is that all they really want is a remake of EQ. This seems to be something else entirely and will likely fail to keep the lifelong MMO players attention. Also, where the hell is my levitating warp speed selo's bard?
