Exclusive Vanguard Beta TestEach copy of the June issue includes a code that gives you exclusive
access to the closed Vanguard beta test. Sigil Games Online adds beta
testers in large batches every few weeks. By registering your exclusive
CGM code, you'll be instantly added to their beta queue. There is no
need to put in an application and hope you'll get chosen to
participate; you skip right to the front of the line. After your code
is registered, they will then send you an email when your name comes up
in the list, along with the client download information.

It's not as it seems mate, it is just the magazine being a bit "enthusiastic" (they need to sell copies after all)
Those who buy the magazine will be sure to get into the last phase of closed Beta, but it won't be tomorrow, I can assure you.
Few months most likely

Important: does this lower the chances of anyone who has already applied from being in beta: NO. I repeat, NO. Rather, it gives us a bigger aggregate pool to pull from when we need probably 30-40,000+ people to fill up multiple servers and achieve critical mass in terms of population on those servers before launch (something we have to do)
Im shocked theyre offering this for the "closed" portion of the beta and not the open..
I wonder who had to pay who
considering theyre only 5 bux a pop, im tempted to buy every copy I find on the shelf and ebay the codes with a $10 reserve

Order page worked for me.
I signed up for the one that lets you test the first issue BEFORE you pay. If you like the magazine you pay $24.95 for another 11 issues if not just cancel.
Can't go really wrong with that.
you can order the digital version for only $17.97 for the year and forward the reciept.
the normal ordering page did not work for me either nor does the single copy show junes issue.
Look on this

Yep, I got it. It's a little misleading, there is still no guarantee. Here's the reply:
Welcome to the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Beta Key Registration page.
Please enter your email address and Beta CD Key below. Once you have registered your key you will be place into the queue for the Vanguard beta. You will receive an email confirming your registration to the email address listed below. You will receive another email when your registration is processed for actual entry into the beta testing program.
Please Note: Registering your key does not mean you are entering the beta testing program, merely your key has been registered and assigned to your email addres and has been placed into the queue for acceptance into the beta testing program.

I think it doesn't actually 'guarantee' you a place in "beta" - it will place you in a queue and if you get lucky you'll join.
I wonder if its different than the one you join when you sign up for the official Vanguard forums.
from what brad said it is two different pools, the people who signed up via the website and the people that signed up via the magazine.
from the looks of it they are going to need alot of testers and everyone with acceptable system specs will get in eventually, at least that is what it seems like to me.
read this http://www.vanguardsoh.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1044304#post1044304 then come back and talk to me about the vanguard/soe fiasco.....

Computer Games Magazine has announced that it is partnering with game developer Sigil Games Online to give gamers the first preview of one of the most anticipated MMORPGs of the year, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. CGM will publish an access code in its June 2006 issue that will allow gamers to play the beta version six months ahead of its official release at the end of the year..
Vanguard will be different than most MMO games. Instead of individual competition, Vanguard will offer more rewards for collaboration and group participation.
Part of the reasoning behind offering this preview is to get player feedback prior to general release. Jayson Dubin, Vice President and Publisher of Computer Games Magazine states, "The role consumers play in game development has expanded greatly as developers like Sigil count on feedback to create the final design and implementation for many games coming to the market, including Vanguard."
