You realize if the game does terrible than our HyborianHero/ prophet will get what he apparently wants - no one caring about Conan but him. Apparently people who play video games are too stupid too appreciate the intricate details of a detailed story that might be wrapped up in a MMO.
And if Conan is not fun and fails then no one will think twice abot renting an old crappy movie or some well used library books. It will just all fade away and no one will care and they will all go play some Everquest ripoff.
If he loved Conan so much he would be glad some cared enough to make a title based on lore much forgotten by even most sci-fi, comic book, fatasy fans.
Maybe say he this game looks interesting it has this and this but did you know in the books those factions were actually at war with each other - maybe you should pick up the book sometime and check it out, it is worth a read.
Well not sure why I bothered posting becuase it is much more fun to watch the ranting and raving - I get a good laugh out of it from time to time.

Durrr other people care about conan whichh is exactly why this is such a terrible game guild vs guild sucks it gets boring quick and has no future realm vs realm is the way to go when this game does fail the devs will be blamedcause they did not stay with the conan world! they made d&d online 2 with Hyboria as a map. i hope when you have paid your money and are sitting around board and tied to a guild town waiting for the 1 zillonth raid you remember this!

Funcom has already proven with AoC that they listen to their community. Become active on the AoC forums, and post contructive ideas. Funcom will listen.

I trust that Funcom will make this game great. I don't want them to get in a hurry and release it before the major bugs are worked out (Anarchy Online launch). AO was/is a great game and if they keep up the work with AoC then it should be a good game.
All I care about is a smooth launch and who ever were the idiots that came up with Shadowlands expansion for AO, are not working on this project.. Thats all I care about.

i'd say FC would be better off shooting for the general mmo market and trying to siphon 10 -20% of WoW's subscription base than worrying about the lore mongers.
i know i am not a fan of REH. he wasn't a very good writer -- pulp or
not. and the new AoC books are also not particularly good.
but i
follow the game because i like FC, liked AO and am intrigued by a lot
of the features the devs are implementing. and i like the idea of a hyborian universe.

I didn't even know they were books. Guess I'm ok then. Really now, if the game is just using the name "Conan" and it has nothing to do with the series and everyone that is actually interested in it thinks "Hasta La Vista, Baby" whenever they think of Conan...

"Hand-to-hand combat utilizes various cuts and thrusts, which can be chained together to gain access to devastating "finishing moves". For example, a player can initiate a three-move combo that will, if performed properly, lead to an automatic fourth move, decapitating the enemy. Mounted combat is even more impressive, both tactically as well as visually. A player's mount-speed influences accuracy as well as attack power- more speed equals less accuracy but more power should the strike hit. Swords, lances and other cavalry weapons can be used against hapless foot sloggers. We only saw a horse in the demo, but a cryptic comment was made regarding a mammoth which had us salivating."

If you are going to bash this game over it despoiling REH's legacy, I'd say you are nuts. Until you can slice some dude's head off in WoW, your comparisons just don't hold up.

Although I'm sure there may well be R.E. Howard fans, hardcore book-quoting nerds, and the like, I don't think, despite the title of the game, that the game will be exactly true to the creator's "vision".
It will be a limb-chopping, blood-splurting hack-and slash. With siege weapons. PvP on a very large scale. With scantly-clad women... Crom!
In other words, a success.
At least, so far, it seems to me that it should do ok. After all gore sells. To me, it seems like a kinda shallow MMO, but I'll give it a try. Chopping off heads, and putting them into the catapult? Sure, that's gotta be worth $39.95. But it will be unsuccessful because it didn't "stay true to the original stories?"

The creator of Hyboria or Conan, Robert E. Howard died around 1935. So he cant sell anything, even if he wanted to... so calling Conan or Hyboria a rip-off shows just how little you know about fantasy in general. im NOT supporting Hyborianhero (who seems to be a childish little conan know-it-all), just saying... bash hyborianhero if you must! not Hyboria or conan! some off us fantasy geeks like an nicly created world like hyboria..there is so few of them!
