Best MMO ever played.

reanorreanor Member UncommonPosts: 441

First impression - best MMO I've ever played. I played too many fantasy oriented MMOs, maybe that's why I liking AA so much. I cancelled EQ2 sub to play AA. Tired of goblins and elves. Swords and daggers, Chainmails and platemails. It's time for rocking, baby! :)

Get AA guys, you will never regreat. Well, it's my opinion though. If you are finished fan of goblins and rats you won't find those in AA ;).

Agreed. This is the the first MMO out of dozens that I've played that actually was *fun*. Hope the word gets out as I'd like to see this one succeed. It deserves it.

Well this is a pretty tall claim, and crazily I agree. I loved UO and EQ, don't get me wrong. They were my first MMORPG's and nothing will every replace those. However, I get those feelings that I wondered if they would ever come back from AA. The excitement and fun factor. Just sitting in town messing with my inventory and adding custom stuff to my car, I get that "home again" feeling that I had in EQ.

I don't get half as much done in this game as I should because I'll just be sitting there checking out my car or checking out the scenery and just how amazing everything looks and feels.

And populations are on the rise. The first night I played I did a /who in upside and got back I think 12 players at around 8 at night. This Saturday night (last night) at 11:45, during Saturday Night Live, I did a /who in upside (human starter town) and it returned 51 players.

And don't forget that the /who command returns a Max of 51 players only. Which means, theortically, there maybe more than 51 players...

Don't deny that this is a great MMO and don't forget that NetDevil and NCsoft still have a list of features they are trying to implement and bugs to fix.

Population is definetly on the rise. Played last night in Highway 80, and there were 3 instances of it. The INC base I was at, there were tons of people scooting around, at least 60 players that I would see. It actually caused some framerate drops

Dunno how sales are, I saw someplace it was selling poorly, but I have to assume this was only the first few days sales and sales have obviously been increase. Once my interview and review are posted, I sure hope to get even more people into the game

Cool... Care to tell us when and where this interview/review of yours is going to get posted?

I just want to add my two cents to the discussion:  I've played every major MMORPG on the market (WoW, EQ, EQ2, SWG, CoH/CoV, DDO, EVE, FFXI, and DAoC) and this is the most fun I've had.  I just love it.  I never before purchased the 6 months upfront... but I did here.

    Big ole' thumbs up.

I am not sure if you guys will understand the exact question here but the biggest problem I had was the physics of the car in Beta stage.  I tested in Beta from early on and saw the game grow and change into something that seemed pretty cool but the car always seemed too heavy and too slow.  I wanted to slide around and feel a little "loose" and I always felt nailed to the turf.

Do you guys get that feel anymore, any beta testers out there know what I talking about and can compare to the live game.

The whole driving around in circles shooting everything up was fun - but the missions did not seem all that special - kill x this, harvest x material from y location - again this was the beta stuff it was changing a lot.  But the beta I played up to a few weeks before release did not seem like it changed much as far as the problems I had with the game.

I had high hopes for the game and considered ordering it but I think I prefere a more social game and this one was more of a solo effort.

    ---MMO EXPERIENCE:---
    WoW - 06-2006 to current
    COV - 40 Corruptor - 10-2005 to 04-2006
    COH - 50 Scrapper - 04-2004 to 04-2006
    EQ2 - 35 Barb Berserker - 12-2004 to 04-2005
    EQ1 - 55 Barb Warrior - 2000, 2001
Tried: DaoC, DDO, Auto Assault, SWG, Lineage II

Yes, the interview and review will be on Neowin.net. I'm a Newsposter and Podcaster over there. I normally don't advertise other sites on other sites, but I love AA so much and I'm hoping more and more sites will pimp how awesome it truly is  I figured what the hey!

And the physics feel fine to me, I certainly don't feel nailed to the ground. I go flying around everywhere!

    Hi Warafrin,

I doubt the physics for the cars has changed much to allow you to drift and do donuts. You can always hit the power distribution option that will increase speed just a little and take away some defense and offense.

Also, I can't see any dramatic changes in the mission structures. To be honest, some of it are a good read, others are just down right wacky and yet others.. well bores me to tears. But you know what, everytime I hit some NPC giving out some quest i can't give a two bit hoot about, I just go run down some mobs and kill some pike/scav vehicles or send my pets to jump on some mutated wildlife and without even noticing, I did level up 1 to 2 levels. For me, thats just the thing I like about this game.

    Just my 2 cents worth...

Actually, if you wanna drift, just buy some low traction tires and set your vehicle to speed mode. Trust me it's real fun .
As for quests, I think it's more important to get their real meaning, reading every word in the dialogue and getting the feeling that you are doing something "important", than just staring at the pretty orange arrow on top of the screen and do as it says. At least I enjoy the game more like that.
Finally, AA is not too group-based because, besides being casual-friendly, grouping is not really "benefical" or encouraged, at least in a gaming point of view. Sure you may get to know new people,  make new friends, etc., but the EXP/loot/whatever rate is still the same as if you were playing solo. Most gamers often group to progress faster in a game, not to make friends ant that stuff. That is, in my humble opinion.

Indeed, as far as "letting loose" goes, you can do a bunch of combinations to increase your speed and go wild. You class and your vehicle can varry your speed, obviously a low level Champion isn't going to move as quick as a mid to high level Avenger.

However, just throw on some snow tires and go crazy in the sand!

P.S.: Sorry for all you Human and Biomek losers for using the Mutant class terms. Even though we are underpopulated, we still own. Mutants ftw!

    (Zexx - Avenger - Carnage)

Played: WoW, DAoc, EQ2, Nexus, Vanguard, Ryzom, Auto Assault

    Future: PoTBS, WAR

That's like saying about WoW:  "It's okay if you like fantasy, but can you play it some months after that???"

The game has a lot of content and depth - whether you want to play it for months is entirely up to you.  Same as WoW.
