Hi-Rez President Stew Chisam has taken aim at Blizzard's Overwatch over what he perceives is a similarity between a character in Paladins and the newest OW hero, Brigitte Lindohlm. Chisam sent out a tweet with an image comparing Brigitte and the Paladins character, Ash.

Kind of hilarious, considering that Hi-Rez has only ever chased trends.

They're too late. They should have made this statement when Blizzard released the RoS expansion for Diablo 3. Because Blizzard copied them long before Brigitte release with their Crusader class. And after that they copied them again with Johanna release for Hots. And now this... This is unacceptable. And btw all of the heroes in Paladins are so unique that you can't find any similarities with any other game out there. It's not like they literally copied a lot of their heroes from Overwatch right? And on top of that they didn't jump on any bandwagon like battle royale games. Instead they developed their beloved game and created a unique game mode called Battlegrounds. Feeling emberessed for someone else is just...

Except Diablo IIIs RoS expansion was released like 2 years before Paladins.

Honestly, I like Hi-Rez's games, but I think their higher-ups need to stick to selling each game's unique points instead of throwing shade at others. It just seems so childish.

    Dont forget this one

Other than looks Brigitte and Ash has 1 similarity: their Shoulder/Shield Bash.

Now lets compare Ash's primary fire to Zarya's alt fire and her shield to Orisa's shield.

This is nonsense. Brigitte is a Crusader, taken from their own game.

What are the similarities he's referring to? Looks or abilities?

I'm not seeing much in the looks department.

I might also add that this pettiness seems very ill advised on their part. The "Paladins copied OW" controversy has essentially died at this point, and it is beyond foolish for Hi-Rez to bring the subject back up.

The developers of a game that was more or less directly copy and pasted from Overwatch is calling Blizzard out?

That video is proof enough of who copies. The similarities are too similar to be coincidence, and lets face it we all know Blizzard takes many more years than most other developers with their games. The polish alone in their games proves that, which cannot be said for the turd-twin that is Paladins.

That's just stupid and childish by their part to bring back the already forgotten OW clone controversy that happened on launch. Also, with all the changes that they have been doing to the game is closer to OW than what they had at first. By the other hand, all those characters by both sides are stereotypes, obviously there will be similarities.

Nop, doesnt look the same and gameplay doesnt feel the same for the characters.

Honestly they all copy each other. For Hi-Rez it's smart for them to keep some controversy going from a company brand perspective if you think about it. Blizzard has been for decades a gaming juggernaut. Hi-Rez is looking to be that company standing next to them in the upper echelons. Having people compare the companies' games brings more awareness to Hi-Rez and Paladins.

I mean they know Blizzard can't say too much about copying another companies IP. *looks over at Games Workshop*

Ehm what? If you really believe Blizzard is out of ideas to add heroes to Overwatch and they looked at Paladins heroes do to that, then you are out of your mind.

I believe there is a loooooooooong heroes list from Blizzard Universe in "waiting list" to be added to Overwatch and you "ehm" at them?!

So , the Overwatch dev team meet up was like "Hey! What Hero should we add next?" Then some dev guy came in front of all with this brilliant idea : "Lets copy Paladins Ash hero boyz!!!" , and then all of them were like "YES! Awesome idea! Let's do this!!" . Is this how you imagine Blizzard did with Brigitte ?!

    Overwatch release - May 24 2016
    Paladins release - Sep 16 2016

Overwatch released first - so if there are any similarities - it only looks like Paladins ripped off Overwatch.

But you are too blind with your own agenda against me that even when I point something in Blizzards favor you lash out.

    It's just sad
You are normally bashing Blizzard , so I took that "Ehm" and the video, as something against Blizz! :)

lol yall are waaaaay too serious. Instead of just reading the article how about you guys check the source? If you read the original tweet he is clearly being silly here, even offering a poll with an option of "is he just smoking pot"

But of course all the MMO sites are running with this and yall couldnt wait to get the pitchforks out. chill

Can't believe so many are taking this seriously. Gaming was never supposed to be this serious lol.

They should be more concerned about keeping players playing Paladins cause ever since that last card update the game has been going down the tubes fast. I've played for years but after that update the quality of matches has dropped to the point where it's not even worth logging in anymore.

This whole lashing out at Blizzard may be to shift the focus away from their blunders in current days. They went p2w card system in Paladins that failed and wasted time/resources creating battlegrounds that is largely a failure cause the way their characters were designed were for small maps not huge open spaces so it's wonky af. Hand of the Gods with reused assets from Smite is fun and you can always find matches but it's terribly balanced.
