First of all I am not familiar with the Xbox360 live feature's spoken of below, but I am wonder will we see this happen with MMORPG aswell.
Also would YOU want it to happen with your MMORPG?, this afcourse should be a option and the option to creat a character like we used to should still excist.
Articel it kinda old: http://www.techshout.com/gaming/2006/14/xbox-360-live-vision-camera-lets-you-scan-your-face-into-rainbow-six-vegas/ , Saturday, October 14th, 2006
Microsoft’s Xbox 360Xbox 360 certainly did create ripples in the gaming arena, but its latest accessory the Xbox Live Vision Camera, which hit U.K earlier this month, is something that could be compared with one of those futuristic sci-fi movies.
It may almost feel as though you are getting shot at. This is definitely one step closer to virtual reality . Imagine you being in the game. Now that is something!
Xbox 360 console owners who buy this peripheral will be able to scan their face into the game. Using persistent elite creation, Rainbow Six takes your face and crafts it into a 3D head that is completely recognizable as yourself.
The face is just the beginning of customization, as your avatar’s body can be built from the ground up and then layered with uniforms. Armour (for individual body parts) and original camouflage . Equipment can be placed on top of other equipment to create heavily-armed soldiers that appear battle-worn. This allows players to create teams that are armed like S.W.A.T. members, S.A.S., mercenaries and a myriad of other military types.
There are millions of combinations, which makes the chance of running into another player online that looks like you very rare. The detail goes right down to the type of camouflage on each individual piece of armor and the ability to heavily arm your shooting shoulder for extra protection. As a player moves up in rank, new equipment is unlocked. Gamers can also unlockThe_National_Association_of_Ex-Offenders and create their own camouflage and colors for their own tactical teams.
Anyone any experiance in how this works out?

Intresting read and sounds amusing to mess around with once or twice. I useally have one character in an MOO that looks somewhat close to me but I have many more where I just have fun with the character generator, so for me it's a completely unimportant option to add to an MMO that I'd probably hardly ever use. That said, I wouldn't have any objections if it was added either.

Just saying.. Not all of us want to wear our real life scars into a fantasy game.
I am all for customization of the avatar as much as possible though but I rather have a good system that allows you to make something similar to yourself or anyone else in it then an actual scan.
I might feel different about a VR MMO in first person.
Take it a step further and replace PvP with player interaction, have PiP choices influence companion scores. Create an interactive MMO where we meet and influence NPCs based on the other players we connect with and you would have a unique MMO experience. A contact list system that creates a contact list rather than an exlusive, punch you in the pixel face interaction system.
