They need to stop talking about ISP when everyone knows it's because of their hosting provider aka LeaseWeb.
They need to ditch that now before Bless comes out and this game goes to shit completely.
People are fed up with it and nobody wants to siege anymore.

I have never seen a game give so much to its players. Right now there is a ring event, and a clover event that each give a shot at some of the best accessories in the game. We just got over the Christmas event and I'm sure a spring event is coming soon! My Olivia warehouse is already full from all the freebies.

Literally almost died laughing... lucky i had a health potion on standby.

What you just said is so illogical, it makes me feel like you are new to this game. I've been playing since Alpha, and last week got my 10k Hour reward, and i'm the GM of a 100 member guild. I feel like i've played this game a bit.

    Those "freebies" are not freebies, they are lures. They are an example of the troll development that occurs in this game. Allow me;

    1. They require significant grind sessions to walk away with components to get an attempt at one of the crates, for the Lava event, you can do 1 of the top crates IF you are logged in 20 days of the event for the daily reward. You are not getting anything for free.. far from it - If you spend 20 days (afk, casual, or hardcore) on any game, you best have -something- to show for it. Loyalty/daily rewards are hardly an exclusive to BDO.

    2. They throw the opportunity at you to get free stuff all the time because of the way the game's progression is designed. Right now with my current gear set(s) - I have multiple high end gear sets for different purposes (PVE/PVP[Balanced/Tank/Class Cannon]) and about 13 characters level 58-60; at this point to progress even a SINGLE gear score, it will take a month of hardcore play. It costs me billions per attempt, and most attempts fail, if not damn near all. Getting let's say an Ogre Ring (100M Value) - Is almost useless for anything other than hoarding til you have ~50 of them for a TRI/TET Attempt, or just offload it for an easy 100m. So it either sits in your warehouse for months, if not years till you are ready, or it becomes money. If you for the former and RNG isn't on your side, you might be uninstalling the game in short order (I have many friends who are gone because of this concept.). It will take almost a year of "Freebies" to have any solid chance at combining Ogres/Tunagrade into anything of actual growth value. There are exceptions (RNG Bless/Carried exceptions.. but it's not the standard.).

    3. Lastly I've received hundreds of "Freebies" from loyalties, valks rewards, dailies, compensation, you name it.. i've hit just about every event that has given out a free 'thing' since the start of this system in 2016. It has amounted to nothing, mostly i get the worst possible accessory out of the box, which lets say a RCG (Ring of Crescent Guardian) - I have a TET Outlaw Ring that has more value than a RCG at Dou, and that TET is worth 12m, it would cost me atleast 200-300m to attempt a single solid RCG attempt at Dou, and 3x at to safely attempt a TRI (Softcap for RCG) - To experience a 3-4GS increase. That single RCG has almost no value in the big picture, if anything it provokes you to try and enhance it, and often resulting in value based losses that will take you weeks to recover from. It's a bait tactic.

I'm unsure why the game is designed the way it is, at high end you see the painful flaws that sentences this game to an un-naturally early grave. Most people can soft cap under a year of hard work, some RNG Carried people sooner - regardless you reach a point where the game becomes so slow, and hard to progress that is requires a lot of effort, time and understanding to compensate for the progression model. Once you hit that wall, you are stuck with asking yourself "what now?" - A question with no real answer. Continue the grind multiplied exponentially for every GS Point you try to wrestle from the game, or leave the game. There is no real content development for scaling gear, no "seasonal, or tiered" equipment. When new gear is introduced it's often targeted at newbies with low gear score to help them catch up.  What little new gear for the high end players released is basically the same thing as what is already in the game with some stat swaps (Eva for DR, STA for HP, etc) but the same basic concept, but requiring you to repeat the grind on that gear for a slight "difference" (Note not better situation)  - Which is folly as if you have a TET/PEN Muskans, then switching to Urogons because you is silly, as a TET Muskans for any class is better than a +0 Urogons, and arguably no real combat difference at the same level unless you have circumstances you are building for.. and if you are going to spend months grinding Memory Frags to push out a TET Urogons for the "one off" circumstances you encounter, then you are psychotically addicted to this torture fest. In the end i don't see how anyone can play this for more than 2 years, it's the same sh!t, different day. I stuck around for my guild, and friends, but they have all burned out (due to the above) and left, the guild is nothing more than 90-100 AFK fishers. It's why i'm on MMORPG.com... looking for something else.. only to see nothing else exists at this moment in time. What a sad state of the genre.

Once upon a time we played games for fun. Not material rewards, not hedonistic character progression, not to 'be better than someone else', but for the simple enjoyment of playing the game. How sad it is that this generation's player base seems to have lost touch with what gaming is actually about. The post above is a perfect example of this. It's actually amazing how it's tone encapsulates all that is wrong with players these days.

No wonder the genre is in the state it is: It's entirely the fault of the player-base, not the developers. Gamers that attest otherwise are completely out of touch with how these things work. But in fact, taking a step back, that seems to be the state of society as a whole; never ever accept that you might be the problem, never accept that you are the fault, and always blame someone or something else. A very sad time.

I personally am happy we were provided the compensation. Compensation should always been seen as a nice bonus, and never expected. It's an online game after, it's not your job from a contractual standpoint. You are not owed any form of reimbursement by publisher/development because you've played their game for X amount of time, you are not entitled to any form of compensation due to events/decisions you do not like. You are unhappy and don't enjoy a game in any form whatsoever, you are absolutely free to stop playing at any time.

Many online gamers simply need to grow up: You don't always get your way, and throwing a tantrum when you don't is not an appropriate response.

The really big worry is if you don't live in the EU but do live in Europe. The abbreviation for Europe is "E" so presumably if you live in say Iceland you don't get these rewards? ;)

Er, over on the BDO forums a common theme to the player responses to this announcement are like this guy's.

"We've had connection issues for months now! In December you got things working for a few damned weeks and then it all came apart again starting in January. And this is your idea of compensation? Pathetic!"

Seems many suffer regularly from connectivity issues, yet others never mention a problem, perhaps results vary by server or where one lives?

I thought Iceland had a two year draft 18 to 20? They have a choice of two years in the military, local government or playing EVE?

    SNIP...  (Lots of stuff)
You have been playing since alpha (two years ago), you have 13 high level characters with multiple gearsets for different activities and you predict the game will find an "early grave"?  The steam charts seem to show the game has had a very steady playerbase over the last year so it seems odd that you would predict this "early grave"...

Seems to me that something in the game has kept you for that long and you must of found some solid enjoyment to level 13 characters.

Because they want you to keep playing and keep spending - it is literally their monetization model.

The constant events and freebies are there to keep the players logging in.

But the stuff they give is junk to me - I don't need any buffs, no food as I don't need XP - so yeah, just my 2c - but the rewards do nothing for me

I prefer that monitization model over the one in Archeage where they introduce new game play elements that almost require cash shop purchases.  Like when siege weapons came out that required TS trees and they added a 10% chance at TS trees in the cash shop which gave you a 40 time better chance than planting trees on your own ( a .26% chance per tree).  Or how gear progression is directly tied to the cash shop.
