In the world of mechanical keyboards, Input Club are something like indie celebrities. Working with prolific keyboard and keycap designer Matt3o, they released the Whitefox to wide acclaim. Later, with the K-Type, released a flashy RGB keyboard we at MMORPG adored, complete with their own Hako switches. Now, they’re trying their hand at a full-fledged gaming keyboard and believe us, this isn’t something you’ll want to miss.

Didn't see any price, so I checked kickstarter and the price will definitely be above $100... No offense, but I wouldn't pay more than $30-40 for this type of keyboard. I like it, but for the price they will sell it there are a lot better keyboards from established companies.

personally i have not used a full 104 key keyboard in probably 10 years .... i have no use for the numpad so i use the short 87 key one... Microsoft Sidewinder x6 was my favorite keyboard of all times i bought 5 of them when they came out for $59.99 but when it comes to $100+ keyboards there is sooooooo much competition already so i doubt they will ever become anything significant to control any market share.

What exactly makes this a gaming keyboard. It has none of the features I would ever look for.

Way overpriced.  When you price a keyboard at $179 you are eliminating a good portion of the gaming population.  When you get it under $100, you might have the interest of many of us.

Something I haven't been able to understand over time is the price people put into really normal looking keyboards. Going over to the Mechanical keyboard subreddit, I see people spend upwards of 1k + on a keyboard that looks like this, just generic small and minimal, which I'm not really sure where these crazy prices come from. It's probably because I'm not a keyboard enthusiast, but I like keyboards that function, and are okay priced. Mechanical is a plus too but not if it's 180 for a small minimalist keyboard like that.

What ever happened to keyboards like the steelseires merc and stealth best keyboards I ever used the side pad that fit you hand perfect and was totally customizable. Being able to customize keys on a rectangle and straight keyboard is good and all but it still does not fit your hand the way the merc board did.

Oh my god! $250 for a metal frame??? No way, not in a million years would I spend that much on a keyboard. $120 is my max and even at that price point I am quite disappointed with my options. The keyboard market needs a renaissance and these are not the people who are going to achieve it. Good luck to them but they will not be making any headway into the market.

Still use my Merc Stealth this day. I don't understand how a straight plank with glowy lights is a gaming keyboard. Somewhere down the line they (razer, steelseries, roccat etc) just threw out ergonomics, effective keyboard layout and started making the same keyboard we've had from late 80s.

I don't care about the bells and whistles if my hands won't relax on the keys in natural position or if I have to stretch fingers to reach all the necessary keys.

This. I wish they'd just do Merc Stealth mk 2.

Honestly these are enthusiast boards, not gaming boards. I'm not surprised to see Input Club go after the gaming market, but this is over the average gamers budget I'd assume.

Most people will look at this and the price and say it's crazy.. See posts above. However, these are are pieced together using parts from the best manufacturers in the business all chosen/designed by input club.  Fully programmable with multi-layers endless ability to swap and customize, not to mention arguably the best key switches you can get depending on your choice.

I have a DREVO Calibur 71, which isn't really a gaming keyboard, but I game with it. It's Bluetooth and USB, and has Cherry style switches which allows me to swap them out. The thing only costs $50-$60 depending on where you get it.

What makes the Kira so expensive is the level of customizability, specifically the swappable switches. The PCB has to be able to make good contacts without soldering, and that takes a certain level of engineering to accomplish, and has to have extra design elements. The cost of the board @ 179 with a full choice of switches is really not bad for what you're getting. It's not the keyboard I'd spend money on, but would be one I would love to own.

This is not a KB for everyone, this is for people who want to make sure they have quality equipment, and as much control over those accessories as possible. The developers of this board are the Bowies of the mech board scene, and that alone could easily be said to be the price driver.
