I was playing ESO as a subscriber till earlier this month. It just doesn't offer enough, imo, for the subscription cost. I don't care for PvP nor raid much so I know I don't utilize all of the content ESO offers but for the story line & up till max level it is fun. It is grinding for those damn Champion Points that kills the fun for me being so slowly paced & so many now. Isn't it like 720? I'm sure Summerset will only add more too.

I've seen this before and I'm not sure I understand it.

Why grind for Champion Points? If you just play the game you will eventually get them.

I might be describing it as grinding inaccurately, but just the feel of progressing really plummets for me after hitting max level & then all there is are those CPs. Now that my subscription is cancelled though & just free-to-play perhaps I won't be so focused on trying to quicken the pace because I do like ESO's good story lines.

It is just more of the same. Those are currently happy will keep this feeling and those bored or satisfied will only move on with what they are playing now. Payed expansions should offer more than just more of the same. A skilline and jewelcrafting are just 'meh' ...

It's disappointing to see no new class or races and the bar doesn't seem to have been raised at all as a "chapter" would suggest it should have been, in fact Summerset lacks any big features like the addition of battlegrounds and the warden class brought in Morrowind. Jewelry crafting is welcomed however.

This would be great without the pay wall. So many of the same people complaining about p2w have no issue pay walling to victory. Pretty hypocritical if you ask me, specifically for a game that can't make up its mind on what it is.

Is it a morpg // mmorpg
    is it f2p // b2p // sub
is it p2w // paythruwall // paytopurchase // mix and match a patch
is it open loot // cash box loot // loot boxes //loot keys // loot key boxes // boxs of loot boxes

ESO literally has everything everyone "says" they hate, but yet it is the greatest thing since butter on a hookers butt.

    Give me a break.
Everyone "hates" different things, by the very list you posted almost all are optional,  or are valid alternatives to various forms of monetization.

The fact players can pick and choose how they pay for and play it, (PVP, PVE,  questing, RPing etc) likely explains its continuing popularity.

Now me, I dislike the games auction houses, limited skill bar set ups (I hate "choosing") and a lack of a more hardcore territory  control model keep me from returning, but I can see how it would appeal to many.

Haha!  Couldn't have said it better.  However, with MMOs no longer being made, I may consider getting this.  It's sad when a game you find dull releases a content lite expansion and you actually consider purchasing it, due to the genre being dead.

Can't help feel you have missed the posters point - and if the poster is bored then more content won't help, the solution is take a break, play a differet game, do something different entirely etc.

If you do decide to get it however the lack of content may take you around 2 years of casual play and getting on to a year of more serious play to complete ... this "content lite expansion" being "just" another quarterly content drop.

My problems with this game is that the combat is too complicated to get into. When I play Fortnite I don't need to read on the forums how to do damage. That is essentially ESO for you, and if you play a Tank like I enjoy you have to deal with a lot of people who don't know how to do damage.

I don't see what the "fun part" of making it so hard to DPS is in the end.

Second thing I have a problem with is the crafting, it's essentially time based, wait a few weeks until you can craft. But forget about selling anything, because everyone else can craft the exact same stuff.

I love to mess around with crafting in games, but crafting in ESO is really poor. TSW had worse crafting at launch, maybe AOC at launch was bad too, but there was demand in AOC atleast, not so much in ESO/TSW.

As a pvper this leaves a lot to be desired. I know the pvp community is 1/100 of the launch size, but at least Morrowind had bg's and a new class to add to the pvp dynamic. Will definitely be focusing on Bless and passing on this and likely all future ESO updates, fingers crossed on Crowfall and CU beta's.

Now they try to deceive us....."base game is free" and then you find out its free when you pay full price for the expansion lol....I thought maybe they were going the GW2 route for a minute but that is not the case.

I believe ESO is the best mmorpg right now hands down. However, the new expansion is extremely weak. A new skill line and no new skill slots to put on bar? Already, we have enough skills and lack the slots to use those skills. This is downright silly. Bad decision. Either new class or let us have more skills to put on our bar.

Even they don't call it an expansion... and they priced it at $10 less than Morrowind was last year recognizing, I believe, that this one is a bit light compared to that one.

No one knows yet if jewelry crafting is going to be a base game crafting skill or behind the Summerset pay wall. But however it is, anyone familiar with how crafted sets have been gimped relative to dropped ones because of the missing jewelry slots for crafted gear recognizes what a big deal this will be.

The Psijic order skill line has some pretty funky unique stuff including the line's ultimate ability that is provisionally called "Undo" that puts your character health, stamina and magicka back to what it was 4 seconds ago and also your position in the world... can't wait to play with this on the PTS once it makes it there. (Some in the ESO forum have been joking that they're selling self-only rubberbanding as a skill :))

So yeah, nothing earth shattering but as I've been saying for a year, these "chapters" are nothing more than somewhat beefier quarterly DLCs. The big news last year wasn't Morrowind. It was that they changed their business model to not include one out of the four yearly DLCs with the ESO+ sub that had previously been content all-inclusive.

So if you don't think of it as an expansion and think of it as this coming quarter's DLC, there's plenty of beef there.

The problem with this concept is As a subscriber, I don’t pay for DLCs so is hard to consider it as one.

That was true until Morrowind but since then yes subscribers pay for 1 out of 4 DLCs each year. That they renamed that DLC a "chapter" is just marketing, nothing more.

SI is considered an expansion. Most major sites are calling it an expansion. Don’t matter how it is spun, it is an expansion.

There's gotta be income someplace. There is a saying everyone want to go to heaven but nobody wants to die'. It holds true is the MMO community. Everyone wants great games, but nobody want to pay'.

It's not being spun as anything. People calling it an expansion doesn't invalidate what he said at all.

There are 4 DLCs a year. 3 of them can purchased with credits, and one with real life money only. Zenimax calls it a chapter because they want to differentiate it from the other 3 DLC and how they're bought.

An expansion is a DLC. Not all DLC are expansions. Lots of games have DLC that's just a cosmetic item. But all expansions are downloadable content (DLC).

His explanation was a lot shorter wasn't it. :smirk:

Could not be more disappointed with everything I've read about SI. I thought Morrowwind was limited in content but this one appears to have less which makes me think they are burning out and just running on fumes. It really seems like they now refer to a checklist to see what's "just enough" like Blizzard with WoW. No real game changing jaw dropping stuff just bare minimum.

I see no patch notes/advertisements on getting rid of "lock boxes". Glad I left this game when they did advertise "lock boxes".

I was in all three Betas. My God those were bad times. Recently I came back (as in the past couple of weeks) to try it again.

I will give them credit - the game is "better" than the last beta. But the combat is awful. Gawd awful. And animation interruption to double your DPS? Really?

For free, it's fine if you can deal with the combat, slooow and laborious crafting, as well as no global AH. (Another 'Really'? moment)

I was on the fence but I stopped playing a bit before Morrowind and hearing you get Morrowind for free if you preorder has sealed the deal.

    Reinstalled and purchased.

Nothing worse than an AH in the game.  Their guild design for traders is brilliant.  With AH you have people that live to buy low and sell high making it very easy to corner the market on rare items, much harder to do so in ESO.

As to the combat there is nothing wrong with it, same with the animations.  I also don't get people that want to be instant master at crafting, what is the point of that?
