Coming from out of the blue is the new early access game PixARK. A game that at first glance seems like an odd love child of Minecraft, Trove and ARK. But does it work?

If the crafting system is the same as ARK, is the placement system similar? I know this has a blocky look, but is the placement in a grid as well? One of the things I absolutely hated about ARK after playing it ALOT, was the placement system for crafting. Trying to lay piping down where you want it was nearly impossible, and you could never get things to go where you wanted them to go.

This seems like a neat idea, but they definitely need to fix the multiplayer component as I saw a thread on steams community yesterday about someone basically having to go buy their own server to play with friends (which we had to do in ARK) because the main servers were so broken. I don't want to front the cost of a game that may never get optimized, and the cost of a server before actually being able to play with people I want to play with, that sounds awful.

Yeah I am intersted in Pixark but waiting for it to come a bit further along, not to mention snail games doesn't have the best rep in the indistry, and the server issues sound quite crippling, massive lag apparently to the point the offical servers aren't playable. While I do give them some leeway as it is a early access title, its been like this for a while now and apparently nothing is really being done yet to fix the problem. I hope it will get fixed soonish though. As I prefer pixark over the actual Ark game, as I hate static maps in survival games, it defeats alot of the purpose of them when you can easly find where everything is.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

Maybe I will, a big problem with all these survival games is too many of them feel like the same game. Hasn't really been one where pve was really done properly yet.

It felt like ARK placement wise. I'd honestly say to anyone interested but on the fence to wait a little bit. The multiplayer issues hurts it. It is a fun take on ARK, but time will tell how it does.

It's the company with their Ark clones is just meh.

They come from Dark and Light, remember all the hype on this site about it? Yup, look at that turned out, will most likely die in Early Access.

That's why I won't touch this game, the devs for me reskin Ark, big sales peak, then all goes quiet and the game goes minimum maintenance, while still on early access.

Ive been playing it with my brother, its actually really fun, i find it more enjoyable than ARK SE, because you actually have time to build. Not being instantly smoked by Alpha Clans and having a randomized map unlike ARK SE's static map which causes Alpha/Mega clans to block off any new players from resources or airdrops is a godsend.

    There are some negatives though...

The servers are complete ass and a joke tbh and its been a week now? And they still have not even mentioned the issue. No matter what there's almost always some sort of delay between actions, lots of ways to PvE grief, which causes almost everyone to build underground to try and hide as best as possible. Too many useless Dinos, other than just taming for fun, most dinos are useless for PvP unless they are endgame dinos or against players that arent max yet.

If you have a friend and like just dicking around and building/catching things though, it really is a lot of fun, but i would say just hold off for now until they fix servers. Xbox doesnt even have MP right now and that wont be fixed for another 2 weeks lol.

So, it's pretty much just ARK with a reskin of Trove... No thanks.

Its fantastic. Its like Minecraft married with Ark + Dark and light.

Its still rough around the edges but with mods and development it will be sleeper hit.

Has potential to be a great game if they don't abandon it. Snail has developer ADD.
