Conan Exiles - A Hyborian Launch is Coming - MMORPG.com

On May 8th, Conan Exiles will launch on PC, PS4, and XBOX One. That’s right, something that went into Early Access on Steam is coming out of Early Access and actually launching just about a year later. Praise be to Crom! And when it comes, Conan Exiles is coming with a ton of new content, improvements, freeform climbing, new progression systems, a brand new combat system, new biomes, new dungeons, the new purge system.

This game always looked interesting to me. I'll probably pick it up at some point if it retains a population on a couple servers.

So is this an actual launch where they wipe all the servers or just an "official launch" where they leave early access but nothing is wiped?

The difference would be pretty obvious on public servers.

Hello Everyone,

I have over 300+ hours in this game and have been playing since early access began. Allow to try and answer all of your questions:

1. Mounts & Magic - Mounts were scrapped and teleport crystals will be added instead. You build a map room in your base, and you can teleport to one of the 10 or so teleport stones. Sorcery will come later. trust me this game needed tons of polish so you do not want them to waste time on another feature at this point.

2. Cheating - Yes this game failed hard and the cheating and hacking was a huge part of that. I am not sure this has been completely fixed. Playing on Private servers with an active admin is usually the best option. Similar to RUST.

3. This is not an MMO. This to me is a lot like ARK. it is a survival game that is meant to not have server wipes. Instead you are "wiped" by other raiding clans/God/the Purge.

4. Currently the servers wipe periodically but not often. everything should be fresh on launch day!

I have made a few videos on Conan Exiles which you can find on my channel in the playlist section. Here is the link I am currently playing on the test server with a lot of the new features. I will be making videos on that as well, if you want to swing by and check them out.

Teleport crystals instead of mounts? wtf, forget that nonsense if that's true. I was on the fence about possibly buying the game but definitely not now. That is some seriously lazy dev work right there.

That's the problem with today's games/players (well some), they are very interested in "rewards" but not having conflict/negatives.

Yes teleport crystals. They mentioned something on the travel distance of mounts to size of map and it would not work. Not sure if they will be added later, but not anytime soon. Since the map is getting huge and the sever size is still 40, having a fast travel at least one direction is super nice. You have to actually find all of the stones first before you can travel to them, and build a map room in your base.

Perfect timing.

My hardcore PoE characters died, and my wife is away for the weekend, so I guess I'll load up some Conan Exiles. It's a fun ass game. I like it and I play single player.

That highlights an issue where a game is poorly monetized. ArcheAge and others that monetize land ownership like this are doing it wrong. They're overselling that aspect of the game and the cost of the game overall. Of course, that's my opinion and perspective. Many people may be happy with that sort of system, but I will not do it.

The entire update sounds good to me so I hope they play as good as they sound.

I'd like to see them expand server capacity along with map area. Games like this don't need to be full "MMORPGs" to be fun. A different sort of community environment can develop and I think we've been missing that from online gaming. It has more similarities to first gen MMOs and MUDs than modern MMOs do. If the server capacity were around 100 or so I think it would open up the potential to create small communities like NWN persistent servers or indie MMORPGs like Project Gorgon.

I thought this style of 'MMO' was more like Minecraft, where everyone sets up a private server and invites friends. Another thought, it also reminds me of NWN, only set in the Conan universe. NWN persistent servers had to deal with a 32 person limit, at least in the versions I played. Maybe an expansion increased this number, I don't really know.

The smallish server size might work fine for this game. The Purge mechanism sounds interesting. I'm guessing that it will be a server option.

Hello!? They are NOT lazy !
Joel in Funcome would love to bring along mounts! that was hes dream ! , but they have not had time. Remember Funcom is a small developer company that does not have good financial resources , also therefore they were forced to put the game early in AE, because of finances !

But it maby coming up later so pleas, be a little patient! The game and Funcome deserves it

This is what Joel says in an interview:

Joel says they're going to have some microtransactions, but of the cosmetic variety - new cultures, outfits, townships, that kind of thing. And in addition to the hope to add some of what has been cut (Magic, Pets, Riding Animals, Advanced Trelle AI and Settlements), they hope to eventually add eight different maps. New maps would bring a brand new figure and one completely new story. I want to encourage everyone to buy the game because then there is a greater chance that we get mounts and more! This because of economy ..

I would also like to add that I'm just an person who just like the game and would like to see the game's best potential.

I tried this at launch of early access and then tried it again a week ago nothing much seems to have changed except the game seemed to be running real bad compared to when it first came out. might just be the version it was at at the time. Seriously though you will get say 60 hrs most out of this as it doesnt have much stay for. ark shits me but is alot better than this content wise.
