Aloha Mr Hand !
Anyways, that poster looks great, and gratz for the longevity. Hope they will have something amazing at the 9th birthday.
That's the IP change's fault, Champions is not exactly dark, more a satirical take on the superhero genre. The Therakiel storyline was pretty dark though.
Nemesis was a great idea, too bad it never really went deeper than a few storyline and a grind for endgame gear.
Population is fairly small but steady and stable. Active too, you can get group moderately fast any time.
- Game launched with only half or so of the planned maps.
- Every patch after launch was designed around minimal content gimmicks.
Yet another unfinished game and F2P conversion into obscurity. Dump it in the bin with the other failed mmos. I could post this exact same about Swtor on their forum but CO is just a blip by comparison. Both games I had huge fun in prior to fully realizing the developer chose the wrong engine/platform and/or direction of the game post-launch like so many had done before them.
If developers cannot sustain their initial vision of their game throughout it's life, I'd much rather see them not even bother to make it in the first place so not to waste our f'ing time repeatedly.
You stay sassy!
I think so yeah.
You would have been better off picking up a lifetime subscription on sale, rather than purchasing three freeform slots.
The price wouldn't have been all that much higher and you would have way more freeform slots at your disposal, plus 500 in game shop currency every month on top of that, plus an additional freeform slot for no additional cost for each character you get to max level. That option doesn't seem quite as greedy on their end, eh?
wasn't interested in their premade "classes", the original way was alot more interesting
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
The current crop of superhero games require subscription to be decent. Perhaps that will change when the spiritual successors to CoH are released.
At any rate, MMORPG subscriptions are one of the cheapest forms of entertainment you can buy, considering the cost per hour of play time, so it hardly matters.
You read my post wrong. I got the two freeform slots from giveaways in the early days of F2P. They don't do that anymore. One i got from a discount in those early days for 20 bucks. They don't do those things anymore. So a total of three on my F2P account. I subbed to to game a long time ago before F2P.
Interesting... or maybe you're just looking away at the wrong times
Giveaways, sure that's rare (obviously, that's the core of the difference between free and subscription), but still there were a few during the years after the f2p switch, last freebie FF slot was about two years ago.
There's an MMO news site somewhere on the web which used to list those news... wait, here it is https://www.mmorpg.com/champions-online/news/freeform-slot-giveaway-this-weekend-only-1000037298
(based on the comments, that's when you got your second slot apparently, and not in the early days )
Discounts, that's way more frequent, at least twice (or even more) each year, at the bigger events and around the anniversaries.
There were multiple threads about that over the years, I guess it depends on the player's take on theory-crafting.
For those don't like it, and always play by following FotM builds and pre-built sets posted on the web, CO provides barely no restrictions (besides the usual, smaller inventory, etc.) since for those players FreeForm would be just a hassle anyways.
For the theory-crafters, yep, CO's f2p sucks big time. You have some wiggle room within ATs too, but can't even compare it to the freedom a FreeForm slot gives. Those players should really go with the sub, or try it at least.
