With all the talk about Daybreak Games last week, and last weekend containing a big superheroes movie event, it seemed like a good time to check-in with one of the two only remaining superhero MMOs on the market still up and running. It seems like a while since we checked-in with DC Universe Online (DCUO). This is a DCUO briefing of some of the exciting things taking place in the game nowadays!

I had fun with it and still do. The dueling at the entrance to some huds are super annoying though.

A man who fears nothing is a man who loves nothing; and if you love nothing, what joy is there in your life?

My only issue is pricing. Getting your feet wet is free, but if anyone is seriously interested in the game be prepared to drop 90+ for each power pack -- unlike other dlc, isn't included with a sub. Non-sub, each dlc runs 20-50 bucks a pop, even if purchased in bundles.

It's a cool game, but man a new player usually isn't going to drop 300 bucks just to get started outside of what is free.

Wait what, that's crazy. I could have sworn power packs were with the sub. Then again the last time I played was years ago.

I wouldn't buy into it yet without knowing whether or not the game is even going to still be running in a few months time, way things are at Daybreak i'd be reluctant to buy into anything at the moment. :/

Whatever happens to Daybreak I can't see Sony Entertainment and Warner Bros. letting their DC game just fall by the wayside. But it could go into a hiatus while it gets sorted out.

I stand corrected as of 7 months ago it looks. Powersets included but not listed as included in the sub-text but through imagery -- My apologies.

"two only"? Oh well, that's English these days.

The reasons I was disappointed with the game don't seem to be addressed. The first was the dark, depressing background and atmosphere of the game (not to mention the nightmarish introductory movie), the second was the somewhat limited character creation (compared to City of Heroes and Champions Online), and the third was the lack of invitations to team up. Granted, the last two are the same for ALL the other games I've tried...

He is trolling and doesn't know what he is talking about. Just subscribe and everything is included.

Has always been this way since launch.

    Agree. However:

DC Comics and WarnerBros. Possible though that Sony are still listed with them on the Joint Venture legal documentation as well since any changes - like putting DBG on it - usually involves getting all parties to agree, Can be done but sometimes its simpler not to bother.

I wish the PC population was as good as the PS4 is.  I maxed my PC character, but I can't bring myself to do it all again on the console.

Umm "Cross Play" has been in the game for 2 years! Time to come back ;-)

"Cross play will allow all players on PC and PS4 to play together as if they were on the same servers. In game, the transition will be essentially seamless. The biggest thing you will notice is more players around."

Anyone wanna say something about the AWFUL targeting system for the PC port? Its just a console made design poorly transfered and unchanged

Should you not edit your original post so that people who stop reading there are not mislead.

Other than the IP, DCUO is far from a popular mmo. Decent game, not great. Somewhat decent playerbase, not great. I don't think the parties involved have any issues letting this one go down with DBG.

I think that would depend on whether they were willing to put their money into keeping the game going, if there is no will to do so then i don't know, maybe? find it hard to believe that they would just abandon their IP though. :/
