So, Blizzard the 14 billion dollar company wants others to donate money? It's cool they're trying to help. Honestly it's all for publicity to make them look good. Does kinda get old seeing all these billion dollar companies asking for your money when they can easily just give a million or two without issues. Overwatch alone made them 1 billion. But of course pointing out this makes you a bad guy.

Pretty sure if they did donate money people like you would still say it's all for publicity. So what if it makes Blizzard look good? Would you rather they tried their hardest to be the shittiest company in the world? It's not just up to big businesses to contribute to society. Blizzard created a product and made that money, they don't have to give it to anyone. Could they do more? Sure. But why slander companies that are trying to do something rather than the ones who do nothing?

I knew someone would spin this to being a negative. It was only a matter of time before someone made the "but a billion dollar company like Blizzard could just donate themselves".

The MMORPG.com community never fails to disappoint when it comes to being horrible whenever Blizzard is involved.

Cheers Blizz! Beyond making games I really enjoy, their consistent efforts to remain a socially responsible company is one of the reasons I'm a proud fan.

Also, I know its been pointed out that this can be a cheap publicity grab that actually shovels the burden on the consumer. This is a valid opinion, but definitely a cynical one. You can just as easily argue that it is Blizzard is providing incentives to encourage others in the gaming community to participate in charitable opportunities who might not otherwise do so. It's simply matter of perspective, but frankly, none of that matters. What is truly matters here is that breast cancer research continues to be funded. Making that possible is a win for everyone!

Don't worry, he sounds like the kind of guy that if they ever discover the cure for cancer, he'll say: "Damn special interests could've did something to discover the cure sooner."

That's ok but Blizzard(a multimillionaire company) should do it for free or a free event in-game, with this they are taking credit from your donation. Digital Extreme(an smaller company than blizzard) the creators of Warframe by the other hand, they do free events in-game, they don't ask you money when they do donations, if you want to help them to donate you complete some goals in-game and all that for free. They even gift cosmetic stuff from the event. In this kind of case at least is better to donate directly rather than donate through a big company.

    Oh man, so much wrong.

Blizzard is NOT a multi-millionaire company. The only person thats rich at Blizzard is the CEO.

Also, Blizzard itself does not have billions to just give away. Blizzard doesnt keep the money they make from WoW and Overwatch, that money goes to Activision Blizzard. Seriously, why is it that no one on MMORPG.com understands what a subsidiary is?

Lastly, Digital Extremes didnt just donate money to charity themselves, they used ticket sales from TennoCon.

Is it really THAT hard to praise Blizzard for charitable work?

Looking forward to see one of these big tech companies support ONE thing that ails men, like testicular cancer. Yeah... I can see that happening...

That would be supporting rape culture and the patriarchy though! Not to mention that such research would primarily benefit cisgendered white male s**tlords. /sarcasm

Call me crazy, but I don't think the people who would benefit from the money raised really give a flying f*** what the motivations of the people / company who donated it are. Not to mention Blizzard has already donated the time and effort necessary to create the skin and set the whole thing up, including advertising for it. But please, continue to piss in everyone's Cheerios because bashing the 'big, EVIL corporation!' makes you feel better.
