During the Ubisoft investors' meeting, a couple of interesting tidbits were announced about Tom Clancy's The Division 2. First off, the game will launch on or before March 31, 2019 which is great news for fans. Secondly, Ubisoft plans an ongoing string of content additions post-launch to keep players and fans involved for the long haul.

But will they take the lessons they learned after the mistakes they remade after the learning their lesson after the other mistakes they made?

Because "they got it" with 1.4, then lost it, then had to get it again for 1.8 just in time to realize that they wasted the entire games life span trying "to get it" rather than expanding and improving the game.

I liked The Division but it definitely was not the game they advertised at E3 2013.

No thanks. I'm no longer buying sequels to sub par online multiplayer games (you can thank Bungie for that). Build on the original. Why grind and play a game that's just going to close in 3 years? Again, no thanks.

The Division now is pretty good, but thats not what it was like at launch, it took ages before the game 'got good'. If Ubisoft has learned from this then fine, though personally i will probably end up getting the game 6+ months after launch, same as i did with the original The Division. If there is one thing i have noticed lately is that its is increasingly a disadvantage to buy a game in the first few months of launch. :/

I'll do my best to hold myself back from buying in at launch. If the second game is an improvement upon all the stuff the first game CURRENTLY has or it's at least on the same level of the first then I'm in. I sincerely hope that it's not gonna be like the lacking and shady Destiny reboot called Destiny 2. It's just not worth it to kill a good and well improved first part for a messed up second one. Add expansions to the first game if nothing justifies a second.

I love the current version of The Division and my expectations about its sequel are understandably high.

Honestly I passed on the first game, but I'm quite looking forward to this, though I gotta say as @RemyVorender said Destiny 2 left a really bad taste in my mouth and I'm really skeptical.

Btw from what I understand it's going to be a stand alone game like Destiny 2 for example and it won't require the first Division right?

Looking forward to see the downgraded version.

When this stuff happens you have to ask yourself, how long do games like these last? How long are they supposed to last?  Development teams want people to come back and subscribe to DLC or season pass content... but The Division just started hitting its stride and now it's on to the next one.

It is the same kind of Destiny -  Destiny 2 thing.  The game will probably be good (The Division 2) and learn from the mistakes of the first one, but I'm afraid it's going to feel like an expansion rather than a new game.

Correct, which is the core problem for me. Build expansions on top of the core game. Don't keep making stand alone sequels. It just dilutes the product.

I waited on The Division and bought it later after playing a free weekend. After reading about all the problems they had at the start I'm glad I waited and the more I play any game the better it seems to get when you wait to buy it.

Me too!  Can't wait to see how they dumb down the sequel so Grandma and the Twitter kids can all take part in the end-game content lmao

Publishers constantly gets date wrong, with the division 1 ubisoft pr guys said the game would be released in 2014 while the swedish developer had no idea wtf the ubisoft PR guys talked about.

Expecting that within 6 months we will hear news about release being delayed.

I thought the first one was just OK really but I'm interested enough to find out more.

I could say I hope to see less ugly characters this time but no, there is no hope for Western games to have anything but variations of Mr. & Ms. Potatohead.

1Q of 2019 should be interesting, as it seems that is also (March 2019) the time frame that Anthem is projected to launch. Hopefully it also means that both games are going to be working as intended at launch  ;)

Hope it wont be playing in one season alone like the first (only winter time all year long)

The Division and Destiny taught me enough to stay away. I don't want to deal with it any more. I don't trust the developers at all. If they make great game then that is awesome but I will wait for bargain bin prices before I ever buy it if I do.

Remember how Division looked at E3? Survivors working together outside the police station having a awesome fight then moving inside, finding the cops after saving them then picking up water (survival aspects) getting a cool loot reward gun from that box then moving outside to be engaged in pvp straight from pve then fighting them off... This showed the game to be both pve and pvp together with drinking etc for survival and this would have been amazing but what do we get? shit pve, shit pvp, sectioned off PVP and NO survival. oh and i played on PC mainly but had it on PS4 to and wtf was with that half vsync refresh rate lock shit that gave so much input lag to controls it was like playing at 10 fps.

I'm glad they kept pvp and pve separate as it is a heavy freaking annoyance to deal with the asshats that come out when you mix the two heavily.

I enjoyed my time in the Division.  It was a unique experience.  I loved how they actually made you feel like you were in NYC.  It wasn't perfect, but I always had a fun time.  I'll definitely pick up the sequel.

So the game might actually be worth playing by 2021 ...

Just build om the existing core game you dumbasses, otherwise your wasting 5+ years of work to ship an inferior product.   You’d think they’d have learned from Destiny 2
