I must admit, that I like the way Blizz is going with BfA in terms of art. Is more darky , more .. in theme with the Horde vs Alliance thing .

    Well done Blizz.

I think Blizzards art team is a big part of why they are what they are. Blizzard art is usually on point for me.

These don't do it justice, different in front of you live with the right computer and screen...

This game was long in the tooth 5 years ago, at this stage it is on life support. WoD was the beginning of the fall, and Legion just built on what made WoD bad. Everything that was special about WoW to me is gone. The art direction is still good, but the textures that the engine handles are not good enough for 2018, nor were they for 2014. PvE sucks, it's reduced to repetitive grindy nonsense like the artifact weapons, faction rep dailies, and mystic runs. PvP is, has been, and forever will be broken...

Blizzard devs are pragmatists, they don't like change and they don't like being criticized. That being said, the devs that made games like WoW and Diablo special are all gone. It's not the same company or devs that we grew attached to 13 years ago. As in life all good things come to an end, and WoW came to an end for me a couple years back.

As a non-WoW player, to me WoW has aged pretty badly and just looks like poop - again 100% my opinion.

I do like the style - Blizzard's art style is awesome - and the style is great - but the graphics just don't look good anymore IMO

He's not wrong, the game looks dated as hell and with each new xpac release it's just polishing the turd. With all the $$$ Blizzard/Activation has they could've converted the game over to a new engine a long time ago... the Overwatch game engine was developed in-house so there's no excuse why they couldn't devote time and resources to porting WoW over to the same engine eventually.

That's because you have no idea what you're talking about. And that's not bad, but not good either.

Devoting time and resources to change WoW engine , would be a retarded decision. I mean, do you even know what it takes to change the engine to a game as big as WoW? It took them a while to change the character models and such. Now imagine changing .. everything. Did you? Good. Now I hope you understand why is a bad idea.

Also, I like the graphics style , because in combination with WoW awesome art , it actually looks pretty good.

We're talking about the same company that took the time and development resources to work on another MMO for almost 10 years alongside WoW, only to completely shelve it and re-use the assets for Overwatch. They absolutely have the time and resources to move WoW over to another engine... I never said anything about it being easy.

We all know that at some point they will have a WoW 2.0 released on a new engine... they have to milk that franchise for all it's worth because it's the only thing they have after abandoning Diablo and Starcraft in their current states.

I agree that at some point, we will see a new engine for WoW for sure. But not now, and not in the next .. several years I say.

Other then that, I would rather see good, and more often updates, then a graphical change.

I was really attracted to the art style of WoW back then. However now is a complete different story. It looks so dated, granted screenshots don't do it justice, but i can never play it again with those graphics.

Hmm... someone who touts gameplay over graphics when shilling for Trove is bashing WoW for its graphics?

    LOL

    Bashing?

Do you even understand what that word means?

Do you understand the difference between graphics and style?

Read what I said again - I love the style, Blizzard's style in WoW is amazing - what I said - with me so far?

    Good.

Now graphics look dated, they don't look good anymore to me - aka poop - it's my opinion and incidentally something that's quite common, it's an older game and the graphics look dated.

Gameplay - I wasn't talking about that because I haven't played WoW since vanilla - (which had really good gameplay) but not gonna talk about current WoW as I don't play it, so I have no idea about the state of gameplay in WoW currently - which is why I didn't go there and won't go there.

Your entire attempt to discredit what I am saying here by derailing this into a gameplay discussion and other games... nice.

How did you know he was talking about you? ( rolling eyes ) :D

Ha ha ha ... nice try. If you would even bother to compare videos of 10 years ago and now you would see that it is 100% improved, details, lush, colors, details of mobs and players.... There is NO game in this world that have improved so much. And I'm enjoying leveling alts on my 4th server just for joy untill release of BFA.

There were Titan leaks before even WoW officially launched, so it's more than 10 years. I'm pretty sure that Titan was gonna be released with same WoW graphics, but because it took them that long when the time came they realized that the graphics won't work, so they built a new engine and made OW.
They gave up on Titan altogether probably because of graphics.

Also can anyone name an MMORPG with "great" graphics that isn't shit. All the games that have amazing graphics don't have anything else going for them. It's literally 98% graphics, 2% other type of gameplay that isn't bad and that's about all there is to them.

I prefer good(because WoW graphics are good) graphics and great... well everything else, than amazing graphics and that's it, empty shell.

It's not just that, it's the fact that it's also running like shit (especially when it matters the most, i.e. Mythic raiding), when with these graphics we should see in excess of 100 fps with ease.
Don't get me wrong, you'll see 100 fps, with top of the line PC, when exploring alone. But go in front of some city/populated zone (see Suramar) and the fps plummets to hell.

I do not raid so I can't tell from 1st person experience, just 5 man and of course PVE... have all settings to max possible all totally fluid, no lag, no matter how many players around (with very few rare spikes). Optics 100/10, gtx970, computer old 3 years, SSD of course. Same I can say for FF14.

Blizzards biggest concern is the gameplay itself... because at this moment the overall consensus has been that the classes aren't fun to play.

    Beta testers:
Art style... they give it an A
Classes... they rank it at a C to D-

The problem with the game is not in the graphics or art direction.

I'd have to agree with this.  Having been in both Alpha and now the Beta...the classes are definitely feeling less fun to play.  I play the tank classes mostly and the continual nerfing of self-healing is a real head-scratcher.  Blizzard keeps making changes and then undoing them.  I think they made tank play have self-healing originally to make tank play more fun.  There is a lack of tanks compared to DPS already.  Now they are going back and are forgetting why they made the change all those years ago in the first place.  The pruning is getting really bad.  I really think they are pruning so much in an effort to get the game ready to go to consoles.

I really agree with you. As a BDK main, I woke up to this happy news today:

    https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20764326252

They're removing Icy Touch as a dispel and it's more or less been handed over to Demon Hunters because...reasons.

That is the biggest fail on the part of the WoW team: They never speak to their players about the whys of their decisions. They just make random and often catastrophic decisions for classes and their silence pretty much says, "Like it or leave". I can't imagine why they don't have 12 devs, one for each class, that at least once in a while respond to concerns.

Of course, I don't complain too loudly. It could be worse for DKs. We could be treated like Hunters who've been ignored and butchered for 2 expansions in a row.

Iv played since Vanilla but the last expansion i really enjoyed was Pandaria minus the Panda class. The art , the raiding and the isle endgame was all fun and immersive. WOD was trash and Legion was decent but failed to hold my attention past 2 months, that may be more on me then the expansion itself, Think i might just be burned out on the current format of the game.

As far as this latest expansion im really not a fan of the aesthetics. To many Browns and dull colors.  The biggest problem with current WOW for me has been the endgame and the crafting. I love the leveling experience but In both WOD & LEGION the endgame has turned me off and its why i leave.

As far as the simplicity or "fun" of the classes this isn't anything new, I mean we haven't had interesting classes since they butchered rotations and simplified the game, this goes back to Cata no ? Have they simplified things even more in BFA?
