LOL i loved that about old mmo's. You got most of your xp by killing mobs in the wild not questing. Anarchy Online was my first mmo and it was like that too. Made grouping up more fun and not just stuck doing some raid or dungeon.

Eh. I really looked into it. I'm simply not comfortable with some of the steps needed to install it.

I never got into EQ. I tried it about 20 times. I started MMOs with Asheron's Call and EQ was just far too slow for me after that. Your video just confirms I wasn't crazy lol. It really is just a massive waste of time doing repetitive redundant activities that aren't even really fun... they were just new at the time.

Though, which one is the average player going to play? Probably the official version as most people aren't going to want to scrounge around for the disks and jump through hoops to play a game.

Unless of course one wants to reach out to former players. Then again, former players might be the people who would jump through hoops ...

Asheron's Call 1 was sooooo much better, quests, storyline, systems , the whole game was better by leaps and bounds.

awwwww man.. what a great game. AC1 had so much mystery. The combat and magic was so ahead of its time. You could dodge arrows and nuke bolts... that was 1999!!

I will admit that there is something therapeutic about just going around killing stuff to level up instead of relying on mundane quests. I miss when quests were important and used to be for getting a skill/spell or rare piece of armor.

I've grown to despise quests. They aren't "that" interesting in mmorpg's and they don't have you doing much.

At this point I only want to do things to level up. running to a glowy bit on the map, collecting/killing 4 things and running back is not entertainment.

I guess it can be a bit of a bother to look for the discs and install for P99 but the experience on that server more closely resembles how the game was in 1999. Although many people tend to offer people gear and the EC tunnel is a one stop shop now I still prefer it to the official servers.

Same Loved EQ1, hated that EQ2 lost a lot of what made EQ1 so great in attempt to appeal to the masses it lacked a lot of complex game mechanics that made EQ1 so great, They should have stuck with the EQ1 game mechanic complexity with a new soty and better graphics, it was a bad move. Vanguard tried to course correct and bring back the much needed game mechanics of EQ1 with a beautiful wrapper bad timing and a rushed release made it fail, which is unfortunate it would have been a great game.

Now we have Pantheon on the horizon and it can't come soon enough but I am so glad they are not rushing it, I'd rather wait for a proper and polished release which is rare in modern days, so many games rushed out full of bugs and problems.
As far as DBG, I personally won't go near that company or anything they put out as well. Reasons are my own and don't need to explain why.
I personally won't touch an EA or Ubisoft game either, plagues to the gaming industry in my personal view.

EQ is still a blast to play. You chodes talking about P99 being better is just false. All of the game fixes over the years has taken away all of the slow and painful things people bitch about. Then you turn around and say P99 is better? Christ make up your damn mind.

After a few years break, (7 years) I went to the FV server and was surprised how busy it was, 6 weeks in and having a blast to be honest, there is still something about EQ that other MMO's even to this day have not captured.

I don't know about the other servers but FV has a lot of people on so much so the poor engine cant handle POK at times and the guild hall has me been doing a weird Michael Jackson rubber band moonwalk, but dang the old girl is still got life.

As for the EQ2 server woah man its depressing I logged into the AB server and /who all had 3 people, how wrong they got eq2, how massively wrong they got the aborted abomination of EQ3.

@Hiveleader Love your work, this was funny and a surprise move on your part, if I had a hat I would be doffing right now...…..(quirky term of the day)
