The game stinks.

I am not going to just say that, I will explain why:

The graphics are well, on hgihest resolution they were blurry and got me dizzy.

The controls are horrid, I dont enoy using the awsd keys and arrows to move around.

there like noone playing when I got into it. I saw one person on the free trial.

The character creation is way way too complicated, and thats a turn off for a lot of people.

Its mostly not what people expect it to be.

I'm not exactly an advocate for the game, but don't most mmorpgs use the awsd keys?  I guess the character creation screen is a bit complicated, but it follows D&D resonabley closely.  Which I think most people expected a D&D based game to be like.  Its not what people expect it to be because there is a lack of content.  Turbine really didn't go out of there way to add anything to the world other then the dungeons.

I'm just waiting for Turbine to give me my reach around.

The blurry graphics is something you can turn off, and is actually a special thing, not a crappy thing. But yes, it can make some people dizzy, my friend included. You turn off those special effects and it will no longer affect you. Besides that I think the graphics in DDO are pretty good if not great compared to other MMORPGs currently out. I personally like the blurry/glowy effect. Makes things seem softer and more real somehow. Guild Wars (and some other games of course) also uses the Bloom effect and again it's something you either like or dislike, but can fortunately be turned off.

As for AWSD or arrow control... the only other way to control a character in other games is point and click which is a very rare exception in the major US MMORPG industry. A couple MMORPGs you can hold both the left and right mouse button down to move forward, but that wouldn't work so well with DDO. AWSD/Arrow keys is kind of a standard for major MMORPG AND FPS games. Your other option is to set up a gamepad to control your character, which you can do in DDO.

I've been checking out the trial these last few days and there have been a ton of people around. Maybe you picked a low population server or something. It's taken me no time at all to get invited to groups. I never even had to invite myself to groups advertising, or form my own group. Just flip on the LFG switch and before I could make it to the store or tavern to heal up I'd have people asking to join.

As for the Character Creation system, I'm not sure what is considered overly complicated. At least as far as Dungeons & Dragons go. Yes, I suppose it is complicated compared to other games in that you are actually building a character rather than just picking a look, picking a profession and playing. In Dungeons & Dragons there is a lot more involved in creating a character, so this is something you just have to deal with. Even so, there are helpful tips everywhere to move you along. Not to mention you don't even have to customize your character. You have the option of just picking a race, class, look, and clicking the "Play this character" button rather than the "customize" button. Given that option I don't see how the character creation can be considered complicated.

That takes care of all your problems except for the "not what people expect". That unfortunately is purely opinion. Some like it, others don't. Me personally, I like the game. Although I currently have friends playing EQ2 so I won't be paying for DDO any time soon unless everyone decides to make the switch.

Ahhhh, another I'm going off-topic and gonna hate some DDO fanbois for no reason poster has been born on MMORPG.COM, the breeding ground for hateboys and their senseless puns. :P

If you take the OP serious, then maybe you have worse issues than not liking DDO and having to post about it non-stop. LOL

ASWD and arrow keys bad? - Which good mmorpg doesn't use that kind of controls? And which other MMORPG that wasn't made for the console supports a gamepad, like DDO does?

Seen one person in the trial? I see a dozen when I enter the game with a new character on any server!

Character creation consists of choosing your race, class, the appearance of your avatar and entering a name, you don't even have to customize your character if it's to complicated for you, just use the pre-set templates.

Crash, one good piece of advice, if you don't have anything on-topic to say, don't say anything, makes you look like the hateboy who spends his time on a forum for a game he doesn't even play that you are.

Let's just review this little bundle of tripe and see who's spewing hate, shall we?

This is classic, so let's review.  A person comes to a forum to voice a negative opinion, and you belittle them twice, then tell them to play at a different time.  I have news for you, Gevrik ... if this person wanted to play at a time other thna the time they chose to play, they would.  If there are no players around at the time they are able to play, then they have a problem.  And in a game that forces grouping, it's a rather large problem.

You can see it all the time on the official forums, and in game as well.  If a player had a problem with the game, the rabid fanboy contingent stands up and blames the player for having the problem.  Turbine is omniscient, they are omnipotent, they are perfect ... therefore the player with the problem must obviously be flawed.

What little credibility you had here has been wiped away, Gevrik.  The game will never have any flaws as far as you're concerned, which makes anything you say invalid.  You're Chicken Little in reverse ... the sky is always blue, the birds are always chirping, and cows urinate Kool-Aid and defecate devil's food cake.

Wow dude, step away from the keyboard. I repeat step away from the keyboard...

If you keep picking at it ,it won't heal.

Yep Turbine had 3 years and over $30 million in VC (venture capitalist) funds at their disposal and that was the best they could come up with. Says alot about the company huh?

Speaking of which LOTRO JUST entered pre-alpha testing...NOT even beta yet. But Turbine has already commited themselves to releasing it in November in time for Christmas sales. Wow, really sounds like a company concerned with quality, polish and taking care of their customers huh?

Well that's the result of instancing and most likely a low population. Character creation is comlpex for anyone who doesn't understand the new DnD ruleset. Turbine made the assumption that anyone playing their game will be totally familiar with the new ruleset which is not the D&D of old, but an attempt to revamp the AD&D system. There are no longer two lines of systems, D&D and AD&D it is just D&D v3.5 now.

    No annoying animated GIF here!

they dont seem blurry to me.  ive never gotten dizzy. (ill post an image in a minute to let you see.)

The controls are horrid, I dont enoy using the awsd keys and arrows to move around.

You know that AWSD keys is like a standard in almost every game.  if you dont like it then you should go back to playing console.

there like noone playing when I got into it. I saw one person on the free trial.

totally depends what time you are playing.  if you are playing at 5 am in the morning then expect it to be light.  Ive been in a tavern with about 20-30 people just hanging around.  plus you could always use the player search window.  did you use that to see if more people are on then one?

The character creation is way way too complicated, and thats a turn off for a lot of people.

how is this complicated?  Turbine is trying to provide you a way to make a unique looking character within the world.  I would hate to see what think with City of Heroes character creation, its way more complex then DDO.

Its mostly not what people expect it to be.

Ok, it's blurry. And mediocre looking to boot!

And I see they hung on to that shoddy AC 2 interface even though it sucked in beta.

The breeding ground for hateboys and senseless puns? Was that supposed to be a sensible pun?

I beleive the point about the WASD keys was the lack of mouse ability to do full movement. If I recall in beta they wasted a perfectly good button on that quasi-twitch single weapon swing instead of keeping one mouse button dedicated to mouselook and another to run forward. And ontop of it if I recall right you could not change the weapon mouse button, you were stuck with it.

And if you are going to bicker about someone being off topic, then you aren't adding anything positive to the discussion AND taking it off topic even more, so try your own advice out abit. ::::28::
