Another failed game that tries to take a swing at the BR genre. I think it's been said before, but the genre really isn't expanding. The only thing that people play is FortNite and maybe a little PUBG.

I cant get into pvp games to often - i tried fortnite, and h1z1. Didnt like either. Wont pay money for pub g. I do for some reason like this game. Not sure why i keep playing it. I think id like fortnite if it didnt have the building aspect. Maybe its the graphics style. I really like wild star and warcraft graphics style over the more realistic types.

Anyways, i find this game pretty fun. Def enjoy the class system. Just looking for a solo queue and a more finished reward systen and ill be playing more.

Are we talking Free-Free? Or F2P w/ a cash shop?

I feel like it's important to at least mention the monetization model for a game like this, but none of the articles I've read do.

I don’t understand companies that are always following the latest and greatest instead of trying to set the trend. Hi-Rez seems to have talented employees but too often their games “feel” like chasing the carrot another company is eating instead of just making the game they want to make, guess that’s business.

Uhhh, Paladins actually is doing pretty alright. In the past 24 hours they had 23k concurrent players on just PC. I know on console they have quite a bit of players as well. That's pretty good.

Hirez just follows trends and hopes it sticks, and for them it isn't hard as they already have the engine and assets in place to try it.

It worked for them with SMITE, it worked with Paladins, so I guess more power to them for trying the BR game too.

Not sure if this is a serious question but the difference between making a game that will set a new trend vs bandwagoning... pretty self explanatory why.

I get it's "easy" money, but a lot of the times the bandwagon copies just fail. Look at MMO's everyone for like a decade tried to Copy WoW's formula and most of them crashed hard. So now they're going to flood the market with br games, and most of them will crash. You don't have to go out to "set" the trend. I'd much rather fail, pushing the limits, trying new ideas, making a game I want to play, than fail going copy / paste and then add my spins so I don't get sued. I don't think the "easy" money as "easy" as it's made out to be, or else there wouldn't be so many failed TCG's that tried to copy MTG, MMO's that tried to copy WoW / EQ, FPS's that tried to be CoD. Just seems like a quick way to burn out of the industry to me.

Gameplay was actually a lot of fun! What drove me away from PUBG was how terribly optimized it still is and how clunky it felt. Fortnite is extremely smooth but I hate the building mechanic. This game kind of falls in between for me which was exactly what I've been looking for. The class system is fantastic and I like the armor/weapons system as well as the forges. Really have enjoyed my time playing!

It's been this way since games were created. Pong clones, Racing Clones, Mario Clones, anything that is successful will have clones, and it's a good thing. If one game completely dominated the market and there wasn't any competition, nothing would ever improve.

BR isn't a "game" it's a genre. Trying to copy WoW/MTG/CoD/etc isn't the same as jumping on the BR "bandwagon". Significantly higher chance of success when jumping on a genre bandwagon than copying a specific title.

I've tried the game and is more than i expected to be honest (i went with low expectations btw) game runs smooth, at first i thought that it was just another br game but they added their own thing with classes which worries me a bit because it might hard to balance them and with hi-rez and their infamous reputation in balancing games worries me even more.

The comparisons with Fornite will be obvious because of the stylized graphics they both share and maybe unfair considering paladins use the same type of graphics but that won't stop people comparing them specially with the character models perhaps hi-rez should had use a different race which is weird that they didn't since they got many characters from paladins they could had used maybe when they put the cash shop, i wouldn't mind buying an androxus skin though.

why are all 3rd person games putting the character off to the side of the screen? cant stand that, give us the option to put in the middle like it use to be.

if I say it's for immersion will I get slapped?

haha i dunno is that really what they think it does?

    BR isn't a genre, it's a game mode.

i don't understand why an actual fantasy BR with medieval type weapons couldn't be done. is that just too boring? they're like lets have horses, fantasy classes, and just keep all the same guns you see in Fortnite, oh and the graphics need to be indentical.

throw some PVE objectives in there as well...ohh wait, that makes it an MMO and not a BR....because BR's are played the F out and no one cares anymore.

Unless they've made something I've never heard of, all their games are money magnets. They're not interested in propelling gaming forward; it's all about the money. And frankly that's fine, because admittedly they make pretty good versions of the latest trend.
