Then comes Nintendo Direct today.... and BLAM! Bye bye Paladins.
But... paladins is not a battle royale? Its a hero shooter
Not that very fair for console players, and if they do add the aim adjust feature, then I can see people abusing this with the switch emulator on pc and using mouse and keyboard on switch... with aim adjust...

From what I heard you can opt cross platform on/off
Couple of things. You don't play with PC players on console unless you are in a party with someone on the PC, so you would have to basically force your way into a PC match.
Second the Switch Emulators that are currently out there are in such early states they can hardly even launch games right now.
Hell the PS3 emulator is just now getting to the point where you can play a game on there at a decent frame rate, and even then it's like 1 or 2 games that aren't bugged to shit.
They still competing with it, since everyone compares these games against eachother.
Hero Shooters is a genre and everyone can dip into it. The game's actually pretty fun and both less toxic than OW and more shoot-y. Healing is way more throttled, so survival is more about avoid damage and not face-tanking. Flanking is actually more effective in the game than in OW.
And Overwatch has been pilfering the crap out of Paladins. Hanzo's rework makes him very much like Sha-Lin with the rapid fire.
There are some obviously broken heroes like Strix and Tyra (IMO), but a lot of them work.
The only issue is it's HiRez and they're never known for trying to fix a game once the money stops flowing.
"These games"??? What do you even mean? They're in two completely different genres. It's like saying everyone compares Dark Souls and Mass Effect. There might be some overlap in player demographics, but one is a decades old competitive scene with established devotees and the other is a fledgling Flavor of the Month that kids flock to.
I don't know if its willful ignorance or what but: That is really not true. Tribes already got updated and reworked around 2015/2016, not because it would make a profit, just because they could.
People still use the "Hi-Rez drops all of their games" thing even though both Smite and Paladins are still around. It's honestly pretty dumb.
