After the debut of the first major Cyberpunk 2077 trailer during E3 2018, CD Projekt Red devs provided various press outlets with access to nearly an hour of gameplay action. Savvy Redditors have collated all of the available information from a variety of articles. We've got it all in one place plus a reminder that The Witcher 3's Ciri has probably been to Cyberpunk.     Looks like the best E 3 had to offer, not to many games to get excited about but this was one of them

    Character customisation and first person? Guess I'll make Adam Jensen and pretend I'm playing the final Deus Ex game we're never going to get.

    Seriously though, really liking the sound of this so far. Would be tragic if someone accidentally leaked that gameplay demo. Really tragic.

    I view this as an E3 of quality over quantity, and I am very happy about that.

    Cyperpunk has the potential to be one of the most ambitious games ever made - with a studio capable of delivering on that.

    Devil May Cry, THE action franchise, is back and looking to be great.

    Fire Emblem, arguably the greatest strategy franchise, is releasing its most ambitious game in over a decade, if not the entirety of franchise history. 

    Smash Bros Ultimate will have one of the biggest rosters in fighting game history. 

    Ghost of Tsushima looks to be one of the most interesting new IP's in recent years.

    Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally releasing.

    Ubisoft is continuing to quickly and totally reverse its reputation from one of the worst publishers in the industry to one of the best. 

    From Software, Bethesda, and Platinum have revealed new IPs.

    Dishonored combat was also mediocre.

    The commonality of the games where first person works (Doom, Half Life, etc.) is that these games are shooters. Cyberpunk's combat will probably be great, because it is a shooter as much as it is an RPG. But that's the problem with first person camera - the only combat system it properly complements is shooting.

    It's been a while, but Dark Massiah of Might and Magic had good first person combat, not being a shooter.

    Kingdom Come Deliverence is first person and the combat there is well done. Coolest thing is when you enter combat, your character puts down his helmet visor, and you see your opponent through the eye slits.  

    Which I look forward to Cyberpunk using first person in a similar manner to make implants and augmentations have real meaning. 

    Bottom line though... Regardless of whether you think first person combat has been done well in another game before, it has no correlation on how good/bad the first person combat will be in Cyberpunk.

    I agree, the only recent first person game I ever liked was Bioshock Infinite and it was shoot-em-up with a story. The game pretty much drug you along on rails, but it was ok. Once I finished it I never went back.

    As for this game, idk I honestly feel less immersed in a game when it's 1st person. I play RPGs to role play the character, not role play as the character. Things like chat bubbles, seeing my goofy emotes, funny ragdoll physics maters to me. I like when I can see my character running up stairs, jumping off buildings ect. Sorry if no one else feels that way, but it's just me. This game has been put on the wait and see shelve; for now I'm focusing my excitement on Beyond Good and Evil 2.

    The complaint about Deus Ex was if you wanted an all stealth character it was nigh impossible to defeat the bosses. I'd really like a link to that scientifically proven info you're referencing. :-)

    Kingdom Come's combat system was widely regarded as one of its strongest features.  I have to agree; I haven't played another game where timing and positioning of the blade made so much of a difference.  It's prevents itself from being a button masher while keeping the pace intense enough to get the adrenaline going.  It's also brutal in that numbers are huge; not many swordsman are going to come outta a scrap with 3 enemies without so much as a scratch.

    In KCD, if you do manage that, it's as much about your skill with the combat system as the level of your skills and and equipment.

    The first-person view contributes here.  Not only does a face protector cost you peripheral view, but it also very effectively protects one's face from a stab.  It's a trade-off, because armor can be the difference between shrugging off an attack and bleeding to death.
