Defiance 2050 News - Tomorrow marks the start of the PC open beta test for Trion's Defiance 2050. Beginning at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern, players can dive into the game for a chance to check out "the game's new base classes, weapon enhancements and progression systems". The client can be downloaded either through Trion's Glyph or via Steam.

It is good to see the entire gaming industry has not abandoned this pillar of good game design.
This will be fully free to play with full content available right? No DLC paywall locked contents?
Defiance 2050 is defiance, all bugs included, same gameplay, just as boring, just as uninspired, but with classes. Yeah, that is it. They added classes.
So good game design, no, not at all. But yeah at least everyone gets to replay the same content they did the first time it was released on a level playing field. Oh, with classes now. Yeah.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
This was posted on the Defiance forums. Trions way of dealing with it was to delete the post and ban the user.. Ask yourself Do you really want to deal with a company like this? Personally i think he hit the nail right on the head.
Its quiet obvious to me that the long standing loyal players (customers) no longer matter to Trion where Defiance is concerned.
The servers have been unplayable for so long now its pathetic. For a gaming company to have problems like this and not fix them is unbelievable. I would say they dont know how to fix the problem, but i dont think that is the case ( Any company worth its salt would fix the problem so if Trion cant fix i suggest they hire someone that actually knows what they are doing for a change). I personally think they are reluctant to fix the problem in the hope this will push more people who would otherwise be reluctant to play 2050 onto 2050. This is where the lets create a problem on defiance servers so we have a good excuse to close it down starts
I have given 2050 a good go but it is just not Defiance! It is hugely lacking for a "new" Game its the same old thing with a few (in my opinion bad) changes (They could have just done a major patch And advertising campaign for the old defiance and saved themselves time and money)
I have bought 3 different versions of the games and spent in the cash shop but understandably i know thats done and dusted but what happens to the fact i have a 12 month patron with a fair few months still left on it? I have a feeling it will be brushed under the rug along with all the other problems that get blatantly ignored.
Trion i am disgusted with you and the whole way you have handled this fiasco you have lost so many loyal players (customers) You clearly have little or no people skills and could have handled this so much better You have proven once again you are truely incompetent, it beggars belief you have made it this far.
Sorry for the rant loyal players (customers) its not something i normally do and it is just based on my opinion of which i am entitled to. I feel the need to get this off my chest. There is plenty more to say but i wont drag it out too much.
At first glance the games are almost identical until you get a look at the new skills setup and a few of the first mission objectives as they have been moved (slightly) then there was the constant freezing issues, these were followed by disconnections after a undetermined amount of time. Then there was a slight improvement when i realised you automatically pick up salvage again ( not the case on closed Beta) but unlike original Defiance you cant progress in the storyline until you are a certain level.
Now i know this is to try and balance gameplay and to stop players from moving through the game too quickly but after the free roaming experience of original defiance its somewhat frustrating to be forced to stay in one area for many many hours while you grind to the required level.
As i said earlier i love original Defiance and have played it for many years now but i cant see enough of a change in a positive way to make me want to play 2050 and this is very sad, especially considering that while Trion worlds have been putting all their efforts into 2050 current Defiance has been taking a nose dive.
Many longstanding players are leaving because of poor server management and because they feel like Trion have been lying to them, there are people who are paying for patron but cant even stay online long enough to claim their daily rewards. When people try and voice their frustrations with this situation they are banned from the forums ( 3 friends and counting) but there is no direct way for them to contact Trion about the patron issues or any other issues except to put in a ticket.
All things considered i would not recommend this game to anyone after the way trion has treated the current player base and there are to many obvious issues with a game that is supposed to be released in the next few weeks.
