I recently started playing Warframe... again. For about the 10th time maybe? For whatever reason, it’s been one of those games I really want to enjoy - I love the very idea of it - but it’s never stuck with me. That’s finally changed, and I’m not entirely sure why. But what I do know is that I’m finally understanding why 24 million-plus people have found themselves enjoying Digital Extremes MMO-like Action RPG-shooter hybrid.

I love the concept of Warframe. I was like you and tried about 10 times, but even the last time it still hadn't hooked me. I have about 50 hours in it, and I do have fun, but the crafting system just ruins it for me.

I understand a F2P company needs to make money, but they absolutely don't need to have crafting walled off at 12 hour, 24 hour, and 72 hour craft times to make people who are impatient spend money. That is outrageous when the whole game feels like it centers around you needing to level up as many different items as possible to increase your mastery rank. I maxed out my guns, my sidearms and my melee, but last time I played I felt like I was wasting time when I couldn't be leveling an item due to the insane craft times and I didn't want to waste the plat I did have on speeding it up.

Other than the crafting, everything else seems really well made and fun. I love the gameplay and even the grind. It's fun to just go in and play levels, even without a real goal in mind.

Warframe is a game that I enjoy and admire, but I also play it in short bursts before quitting. It is compelling enough to hold attention for weeks, but it lacks a truly challenging endgame. And when I do take breaks, I get frustrated with their love of temporary events and prime vaults which seem to punish returning players for taking extended breaks.

I do the same and feel the same. Tennocon is coming and I didn't farm prime parts like I planned when they announced it, because I'm on a temporary break. It frustrates me but not enough to force me to play.

But I still love the game and will support it as long as possible :)

btw if you've finished Onslaught quest or got to Hieracon on Pluto then you can get any frame to 30 in two runs to wave 9 in the former and 16 in the latter. Also don't type "nezha is a trap" into chat to avoid getting 1 week suspension.

    Thank you for your time!

This is the one game that stays one my computer and is always updated. I take breaks from it, but I always go back. The devs are amazing, the game is unique, and it's always being updated. I've been playing off and on since beta and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

I just want more open world stuff. I can't get into all wall running gimmicks and other stuff. I really don't like the indoor missions.

Warframe is a game that really relies on number crunchers to suss out the most effective ways to play the game.

It's very much dragging the playerbase by the nose, creating new materials and new locations and new methods of farming.

While that can be flexible for creating content, it can be exhausting for a normal player.

I've never relied so much on other players doing the "discovery" than I have in Warframe.

Best f2p game in the world. And you can take a break and miss nothing when you come back few months later. Its there and waiting for you to enjoy it again. And its less grindy than many other titles. Its only super grindy if you try to get every piece of gear which is kind of insane.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

Why go back to a game again and again, I just don't get it:

    1st) Not for me.
    2nd) Don't like it.
    3rd) Not fun enough.
    4) Eureka!

Do players who do this also like banging their head against a wall? :)

If you make a 20$ plat purchase whit a 75% discount coupon that you will most likely get in your 1'st month of playtime , you will honestly never need platinum again .. flip sets , invest in rivens , farm kuva , roll decent weapons sell and profit.
There is 0 excuse for not having plat unless you are lazy and yes you CAN make plat without the real money purchase , i just added that because the game really does deserve the 20$ for the amount of quality content you get.

For me, it's because I like it, but it never "stuck".

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

I find the same thing with Warframe (and GW2, and FFXIV) - very fun in short bursts, but for some reason they are just not something I can stick with for long stretches.

Sometimes games do actually change for the better. For me I know it's close to being a game i could really get into. I've come to realize they will likely never make the changes required for me to get into the game, even though they might make the game vastly more appealing. Couple that with the current game market lacking in good options and you get a lot of people wandering around from game to game looking trying to get a little enjoyment out of the experience before the reality sets in.

It's a good point, but other games have done that to me. ESO is the best example. Lots of people love it, but I couldn't get into it. Finally, I just hit that magic combination that appealed to me. I don't know if it was class/skill choice, lack of other things going on in my personal life, or changes to the game itself, but I'm really glad I didn't write it off as I was able to have a fun time with it eventually. LotRO, EQII, Divinity: Original Sin, and Rift are all other examples.

Warframe is one of those that passed me by. I guess it just never caught my eye. Reading this article has me wanting to try it now. Sounds like it might just scratch that itch that losing Marvel Heroes left.

Oh! If you play it before the proper launch that would make some sense, if you are waiting for changes after launch I can see that given enough time. I just would not have the time to do that it for one thing, I wait until I am absolutely sure, then play.

Warframe in particular changes a lot and constantly, generally for the better. It's growth has been interesting to watch.

This was on my list to give a try. Sadly I never got around to it and now there are just other games I want to play more. Still on the list though and maybe one day I will finally get to it,

The problem with arguments like this is that

1: You don't have to buy plat
2: You get to a point to where unless you're playing literally all day, you won't burn through your weapons and frames, meaning that you're going to always have things to level.

The idea that people are being forced to buy plat is in this case simply false.
