Temtem, a creature-collecting MMO inspired by Pokemon, has completed its KickStarter campaign. Originally, the team hoped to raise a modest $70,000 but ended the campaign with $574k instead. Who says KickStarter is dead?

Thank you for your time!
Btw I've noticed that generally if a game is looking for let's say $40k and they get around that amount they might deliver while if they ask for $40k and get $500k the game usually ends up failing.

Asking for a stupidly low amount of money to create any kind of half decent MMO and receiving 8 times more which is still a stupidly low amount of money is NOT A SUCCESS story in any way, shape or form.
In fact it just means a bunch more folks wasted / got taken for their money.
This site continues to do its readers a disservice presenting this news positively when they should be slamming it.
I really need to consider becoming a web streamer and do a show called "It's your money, Stop being Stupid with it!" or something to such effect.
Endless material everywhere.....

HA HA HA! Did you actually bother to check the release schedule?
The Switch version was one of the stretch goals, so it means they haven't even worked on it yet, so depending on the engine used, it will be the last platform to be ported.
Early access won't start until late 2019, most likely first on Steam.
Real release won't be until 2020, which might be the optimistic timeframe when the game will launch on Switch.
Pokémon RPG for Switch will launch next year in 2019. So I am pretty confident that Gamefreak is a little more experienced than these guys and actually launch a finished game next year.
I mean... the stuff they showed, while a blatant rip-off (but so was Digimon in a way, but at they put some unique effort in it to differentiate themselves), actually seems interesting.... if they can pull it off.
Also, don't forget that Pokémon Let's go Eevee and Let's go Pikachu is launching later this year on the Switch, which seems to be a nice filler game until the real RPG next year.
Seems like you are a true Pokemon Fanboy, that says "check the release schedule" where you didn't even check it right?
Lets start for the basis, Pokemon RPG is not a MMORPG, which is why there is not much gain there for Pokemon since people interested on TemTem are looking for a MMO approach.
Second, Switch release was already planned from the start. With the stretch goal they will now release at the same time as PC.
With a blant rip-off means that people can't make any other creature game that will be a rip-off.
Same way that every MMORPG is a blatant rip off of World of Warcraft?
Or is World of Warcraft a rip-off of Ultima Online?
Or is Ultima Online a rip-off of Tibia?
Dammit, are all MMORPGs rip-offs?
Come on...
True some animation seems similar and they said that they will change so they are not linked like evolution. But other than that?
I am not saying I am not intrigued by this game (and I am definitely not a Pokémon fanboy, though do like to play it together with my son and I like the Digimon games too), but I tend to take release time frames from indie developers with a huge grain of salt.
As more often than not, they over-estimate themselves and end up with huge delays. Worse! As has been the norm the past years, they release a barebones game in Alpha pre-launch, take people's money, which then stays in Alpha for several years before finally releasing. Others seem to stay in pre-release for like forever and still not feature complete on what was promised! :-/
That's why I avoid crowdfunding like the plague. I don't trust them anymore.
I always like to be proven wrong. But the last couple years have not been that promising with these kind of crowdfunded indie games.
I hate the name, but the game itself looks fun

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Heck, I was probably in my late 30s before that happened to me. (That 3rd child might have done it.)
