Yes it seems rather odd that no free trial is available for a game that is apparently struggling. SOE offer free trials for their other games, even EQ2 which seems to be on the up again recently, so I don't know why there isn't a free trial for MxO. I have a boxed copy on the shelf but would like to confirm whether or not it works with my ISP. There were considerable problems with UK ISPs with this game. A trial would let me find out if they have resolved this before I break the seal on my boxed copy.

After SWG, and the latest new EQ expansion, I wouldn't try this game for free. I have alot of interest in playing the Matrix, but not as long as SOE has anything to do with it. After reading alot about anti-noob sentiment, I am positive I have no interest in contributing $$$ to the survival of this game.

I will give this game a shot as soon as I hear about a free trial

My guess is that they will. Its SOE they do it for all there games. I also think they are just waiting till they get the combat system change out there.

I would try out this game, but only if it has a free trial. It looks ok... but I've heard a lot of negative reviews. Hopefully they have a free trial when or if the combat system is redone, like the previous poster said. If they do, I'll try it out... if not, well... I can bounce around AO, EVE and other free trials until some other MMO comes out. :P

    Looking for a real game.

Sony havent touched this game yet, the combat revamp was planned by monolith, and all sony have done is fix monoliths bugs since they came in. I would hop ethat after the combat revamp is in place free trials will be offered and also hoepfully the devs might start working on some sort of end game content!

I thought that they had one, or was that before the SOE buy out? At the time - from what I read mind you - you had to call to cancel the trial.

Obviously I didn't try it myself. Anyway, thought I'd mention it. /shrug Maybe that's still around.

There will be no free trials for this game ever.

No one will subscribe to it, if they have seen it first.

    sounds awesome :D

i have been meaning to try this game out for years but it was never released in australia. i found the d2d version but the mixed reviews about the game made me edgy about it.

I love the matrix and hopefully this is a good game :) *prays its not like SWG*.

its april 17 in australia and no trial, im guessing it has to be mid-day april 17th in america before it pops up :( tomorrow night then.

thanks for pointing this out btw :)

That's marketing too, so I dunno. I think they must have some extra-devious plan.

We'll see if they put it up tomorrow...

This shows that there will be a 15 day trial. But as of yet I don't see one. I am a fileplanet member and have scoured the site. No joy.

I played the game in the past, but I don't play it now. I have friends that want to try it, but only if there is a trial. I'll probably play again if they all do.

I'd stay tuned to the NEW website Thursday and especially Friday...see if anything is posted up there about the trial..and just regular news.

The trial could be released next week...that's my guess.

"The Matrix Online free trial, hosted by FilePlanet, will begin on Monday, May 1, and run through Sunday, May 14. During this time, new players will be able to download a free copy of the software from FilePlanet. After that, the free trial key can be activated at any time to begin a 10-day free trial of the game."

I don't understand why they don't just make it a permanent free trial.

So, yes. There is going to be a free trial that co-incides with the Battle of the Bands - A piece of blue sky, Reloaded Event. The event will showcase player-created movies and music and display them over big-screens throughout the MegaCity at select concert locations. If there ever was a good time to join MxO, or to at least try it, now would be it. C'mon, you have nothing to lose, try it.

((Side note, all trial players will recieve HyperJump Beta, a special ability that was originally only available to players who pre-ordered the game. The ability grants you a level 10 version of Hyperjump at no memory cost, plus it stacks on top of normal Hyperjump. This means that at level 10, with both normal hyperjump and HJ Beta, you will have the equivilant of Level 20 Hyperjump.
Hyperjump is the ability used to move around the city besides walking and using hardlines.

Also, any trial players who convert to a full account will recieve another ability, Mobius Code. This ability heals the player for roughly 1/4 of their health at a small amount of IS(known as Mana or Endurance in other games) cost. ))

That is BS everyone should have it. I got the game and it is good but I would not mind having that. Not fair for the rest

well..its 1 may now...still no sign of any trial on neither the matrix website or fileplanet..knowing sony, it will probably get pushed back *sigh*
  • codenam47codenam47 Member UncommonPosts: 30
talk about wanting to make new players sign up and pay the monthly fee with pampering :P

its may 1 and almost may 2nd in australia, yet no free trial....i might have to wait till may 2nd at night due to the time difference.

i do agree with the above poster thou, that isnt fair to current subscribers, but hey :P it is SOE after all so they are normally always screwing their current customers in hope to get new customers.
