The folks at the Edmonton studio are having too much fun with this (and generating lots of interest too).  I only got thru half of the 35 pages (currently) on the new MMO thread at their site:

    Here's some examples:

To the_one_54321: I don't suppose you have a link to any pages that have the official word from BW execs that they will not be working with any outside intellectual properties for this MMORPG, do you?

priestly, henley and woo have been posting on this thread. why dont you just ask them? im pretty sure henley was one of the specific persons who said bioware will not be doing others intellectual property. priestly and woo may have also commented on it. i can try and find a link for you but im really no good with the search feature so no promises.

Actually, One, if you read our posts you'll notice we are carefully NOT saying what it will or will not be about yet.

Except Stan and his dementia about toys from the 80's. But he's out of his gourd and cannot be trusted.

no i was talking about the posts in starwars topics in the off topic forum. im pretty sure that henley has made it very clear that bioware will not be working with outside intellectual property.

I never saw those. But they certainly must have been made BEFORE we announced a MMO. Once again, this means nothing (except that James is as valuable a source of info as Woo) as far as what our MMO may or may not be about.

Between Go-Bots, Captain Caveman, Bionic Six, Dino Riders, Galaxy High, Turbo Teen, and M.A.S.K., we've got a metric pile of properties we can play with do develop an MMO. Heck, I bet if I lobbied hard enough, I could convince BioWare Austin to do a Rainbow Brite game!

And by "lobby," I of course mean "brainwash."

It disturbs me that I know most of those references.

And yes, my comments about focusing on existing BioWare intellectual properties were pre-MMO announcement.

I didn't see Silverhawks or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors mentioned anywhere in there. This is disappointing, because if we're ever going to win against the Monster Minds the fight needs to be taken to them!

You also didn't see Thundercats, Thundarr the Barbarian, Hilarious House of Frightenstein, Shirt Tales, Saturday Supercade, Pound Puppies, Blackstar, or Rocket Robin Hood on that list, either, but that doesn't mean they're out of contention.

Why don't you go back to your Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs or your Starcom or your Jem or Muppet Babies and let the professionals handle this?

If we're doing a brand new IP, I'm naming it right now: Crawbthwambyulid. It'll be an epic neo-futuristic sword-and-sorcery FPRPTSGS sim based on The Cosby Show (the slogan being "Play the Huxtable, live the Huxtable, be the Huxtable!"), specifically designed for handheld devices like graphing calculators, Etch-a-Sketch, Gizmondo, Sega Game Gear, Mr. Game and Watch, and ever so popular, digital peanut butter and jelly sammich. With the smooth peanut butter; you get more fps and graphics resolution that way. Mmmmm... antialiasing jam...

We always comment enough to say "We don't comment".

Basically there are always rumors about what we're going to do next. Maybe it'll be a new IP or maybe it'll be a sequel or maybe it'll be us taking over an already existing title or whatever. But I can tell you this, NEVER believe the rumors you hear about us. If rumors were true, we would have been bought by Microsoft about 7 years ago,

Basically, until we say what it is for sure, don't believe anything you hear unless you hear it from us.

Understandable, but I wish you could at least crush some of the more far-out rumors, like the SWG one.

Crush them? I'm hoping someone will run wild with some of the ideas I've already put forth in this thread!

I mean, we don't comment on the rumours that we're making a hot-seat co-op first-person janitorial game set in a world full of messy offices, dirty sporting arenas, schools in muddy locations, and players' own houses, using the Monopoly rule set, and that we're calling it Go-Bots II: Transformable Boogaloo.

    what? I like Go-Bots!

Okies, you don't reply to rumors..fair enuff.
can you tell me this then
In the development offices of your new Texas HQ.
Are there any of the following items lying around?
    light saber
    TIE fighter model
    map labled endor
SOE voodoo doll, with pins inserted
    speeder model
    Darth Vader poster
    radio controlled R2D2 unit?

Now if there are any (all?) of these things..that doesn't really mean a thing..does it?

Actually, it doesn't. Our very own Chris Priestly has a number of different toys scattered around his work area: wrestling figures, dragons, Blues Brothers, South Park, Simpsons, Family Guy, Stikfas, movie heroes and villains, and lots of books and DVDs.

I don't think you can put much stock in what we're making based on what toys we like. And many of us really like our toys.

Unfortunately, we can't really answer any of the questions posed to us on this last page of comments because the studio is still very new and we're just starting the development process... or are we?

Give us some time to get things rolling, why don't ya? As usual, we'll give out information when we're good and ready, so until then, please let's keep the "OMG BIOWARE what are you making? tell us! It better be this property! Pleeeeeeease? You guys r awesome! Tell us it's this property!" type comments to a dull roar. Thanks; we appreciate it.

Thanks for all the comments, everyone. I'm glad there's so much love and support for our new studio.

Damn, this is a big post, sorry bout that.
