I know people love to hate EA, but Origin has a pretty beefy list of free games with the sub, too.
Some notables include Titanfall 2, Mad Max, ME series, Batman: Arkham series, Torchlight 2, This War of Mine, Dead Space series, Dragon Age series, Wing Commander series, Ultima Series, and a whole lot of indie titles. PoE and Wasteland 2 are also included. Ya can't hate on EA or Amazon for providing all these games for a low-cost sub and/or Amazon Prime.

Origin is awful.
Ehhh it's fine. Most people's "issue" with it was that it was another thing to download and EA removed their games from stream. It works well enough for what you need it to do and while not perfect isn't really "awful" either. That said their sub thing is worth it and so will their higher end version be.
Yet if you uninstall Twitch, the games don't work. I tried it. Just another scam to get users for the Twitch app.
WTF According to that logic Steam is a scam because you can't use their discounts and free games anymore when you uninstall the steam client.
Your bias is showing when you label free games as scam.
It should. I'm not shy about it. I despise this new fad of every publisher needing some "other software" just to launch their games. Now Amazon is getting into it, too? At least now, maybe Steam will have to worry and clean up their own act with the new competition.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR

Which basically means you are missing a huge amount of games coming out that are delightful to play. Also amazon gives away games with twitch prime which you need the twitch app for to download. If you purchase games on amazon that are digital it doesn't use the twitch app. Not to mention that they different launchers really aren't all that bad *shrugs*.
People want control of their store fronts because it is more money coming to them as opposed to paying 30% of it potentially to another company.

I'm not "missing" a thing, though. 230+ games through GoG, a couple on Steam that I could not avoid (Skyrim being the major one), and hundreds more on CDs/DVDs. I'm not hurting for games to play.
It's great you enjoying going through third party software just to play your games, but I dislike it. I dislike more the fact that I am finding less and less choice for my purchases. I'm not enamored with "convenience." Hell, I played EQ1 for goodness sake

Also, @Kyleran , not the first time you bring up that thing. What's your deal with the game?
It actually is the first time I brought up this game, and in doing a simple Google search I ran into a single reviewer on a single website that increasingly slammed the series with each release.
I have no idea at all what the game is about, clearly highly rated but then so are lot of things I find questionable in gaming as well as life.
Just trying to live long enough to play a new, released MMORPG, playing New Worlds atm
