Imo calling the druid a backup healer doesnt really describe it. It sounds like druid amplifies other heals, so this is like adding another level or dimension to the gameplay.
I need to see a game design that "matters" and not a game that with everything else going on the ONLY thing players will care about after the first month is dungeon runs/raiding for loot and the entire rest of the game becomes meaningless, this is the problem i worry about. Classes and their designs won't matter, crafting won't matter, your realm, your lore none of it will matter if all the game becomes is a dungeon loot fest.
I am looking for a developer that can expand the mmorpg game design and not give me the same old same old that i have already seen in EQ...EQ2...VG..Wow etc etc,i want to see AL other aspects of the game and it's world have meaning and not just dungeon runs.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
They promised that all healers would be able to provide full group healing. What I'm guessing is that they are adding these side effects to make it more amenable to have more than one healer in a group, something that most players frown on in most games, considering it a waste of space that another damage dealer could fill.

Amplifying other heals does definitely sound like a nice function for a raid, but how is that going to work in a standard group? Will the druid have to cast twice (an amplify plus a normal heal) in order to match the straight one-time heal of a cleric? If that's the plan, that won't work; the game's population will still need to consist of 1/6th of the total players as clerics.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

I have to disagree on this one, You seem to want a game that "matters" other than dungeon runs and raiding. Well here it is !!
What more than a game like Pantheon could you expect ? It's been a long time where an mmorpg is a life within a game.
Their couldn't possibly be a better design where players could roll play than what VR is trying to provide. Sure, ANY game could be manipulated where players could only care about one aspect. But that's only if you let it.
We can't say whether druids will be inferior, but what he is saying is correct regarding the number of healers. There simply cannot be any one alpha class in any given role. They have to each have a unique yet equally and independently valuable talent. If a healer is only good as a healer while with another healer, that would obviously be horrible. If they're just support and not meant to be a member of the healer role, then that could be doable. It just means they will need to be valuable in other ways than healing.

I personally want a lot of same old - same old, because that has been in short supply lately. Cash shop P2W ez mode games cover the landscape. Sure, something groundbreaking would be nice, but I would be very content with a true successor to quality games I have enjoyed before.
